Chapter Text
Bloodied, traumatised, broken.
This is what Tenko Shimura is. Except, the blood staining him isn't his. It's the blood of his loved ones.
Blood of those who held him dear. Blood of those that cared for him. Those who played with him. Cleaned his scraps. Praised him. Supported him. Protected him. Those who protected him... And he repaid that by killing every-last one of them.
It’s not that he wanted to. He didn’t mean it. He would never kill his grandparents, older sister nor mother—His father was a different story though.
He had lunged at his father voraciously. Determined to get revenge for all those nights he left him without food despite his family's protests. Revenge for not letting him be a kid. Revenge for all the times he's had to endure his father's hits. Revenge for holding the grudge he had against his mother on poor Tenko. He took advantage of his quirk outbreak. Acting like a villain—despite all he ever wanted to be was a hero.
He ran and ran till his legs gave out. Needing to get out of that house—even if all that is left is dust. Ending up in the city, Tenko looked around hoping someone would help him. Help a hurt child with no home. But people paid him no mind, they just carried on with their days ignoring the pitiful child in front of them. His itching got worse—he was practically clawing at his skin. Please get it off.
“Oh my! What are you doing here all alone? Why are hands your covered in blood?” A concerned lady had approached him. Tenko couldn’t contain his happiness and relief that someone had noticed him. He gave the woman a ‘warm’ smile.
Before being able to respond the woman face twisted into what looked like horror. She backed away stammering about how a hero will come and help.
No one did though.
Losing all hope Tenko sat underneath a bridge which looked like it could collapse any second now due to all the cracks. He found it oddly comforting though. As it resembled him.
His itch was back, although it was unlike anything he had experienced before—his is whole body was on fire. No matter how much he itched or clawed at it, it would never go away. He scratched. He bit; hell, he even grabbed at it! But nothing worked; he was right back where he started. Tears began swelling in his eyes—due to not only the agonising sensation in his skin but the one in his heart too. Breaths became ragged as he clawed at his shirt with one hand and clenched his head with the other. He wanted to scream till his lungs collapsed; just so someone will notice him. To come to him. Ask what’s wrong. Wrap their arms around him rocking him to sleep like his mother once did.
“My dear, are you okay?”
Tenko looked up to see a green haired woman crouching to meet his eye. She was fairly skinny; other than the fact she was heavily pregnant. Eyebrows furrowed, eyes focused solely on Tenko. Was she worried? Tenko was staring at her so intensely frightened a single blink will make her disappear.
His body slumped forward letting out a breath he didn’t even realise he was holding. Gathering all his strength, he weakly stood up.
“M-My mum-” He barely chocked out before tears began prickling his eyes. “I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean too.” His knees gave out from underneath him; his trembling body hitting the cold grimy floor. Loudly, his tears escaped; face flushed and wet. Could anyone else hear his loud wails? Either way he didn’t care. The wind stole his tears swaying them along the cold breeze.
Suddenly, a warm pair of arms enveloped Tenko. It felt like a warm dream. Something he never had before. Something he couldn’t even name the feeling of. He was careful with his hands as to not turn her into dust. Leaning into it, he thought to himself how he wanted this to last forever. Feel this warmth for eternity.
After a few minutes—that felt like only a couple of seconds to Tenko—the woman unwrapped his hands from him. Wiping fallen tears on his cheek with her thumb.
“Are you okay now?” Her voice was so soft.
Nodding slowly, Tenko wiped his own tears two with his forearm. But then, he realised something. If he told this nice woman, he killed his parents she would take him to prison. So, he decided to lie.
“A villain came and... and he killed my family. I'm the only one left.” The tone of his voice was devastating. Sympathy shone on the woman's face.
“What's your name dear? I can help you.”
Sniffling he said, “Tenko Shimura. I'm 5” He then proceeded to put five fingers up.
As soon as the woman heard the name Shimura, she stiffened up immediately. Rubbing her belly, she stood up. Holding out her hand to him, she wanted him to take it.
“I can't touch you... My quirk makes things go away.” He mumbled. The woman nodded and beckoned him to follow her instead.
“Would you like to know my name?” She asked Tenko. “It’s Inko Midoriya. I will be taking care of you from now” Inko flashed him a warm smile.
Maybe what happened today was for the best.
