    When Rengoku Douma was six, his parents died, leaving him with all the buried trauma of being an object of worship, a plaything for the adults around him. When he was twenty, he was turned into a bloodthirsty monster reliant on human flesh just to survive.

    Douma tries to remain concealed, subsisting on donations of blood, but it is painfully obvious that his adoptive family fears him. That everyone would fear him, if they learn what he is.

    So Douma does what he does best. Lie. Dissociate from his emotions until it feels like there is nothing there.

    But lies can only go so far, and when Douma is found hunched over a dead body by someone who despises him, he is dragged into the worst possible limelight—an investigation into serial disappearances. Suddenly, it isn't just his innocence that's on the line, but his very identity as a demon.
