Work Text:
As Mikasa lies next to Eren in their perfect world, Eren fades into the air and Mikasa lies alone. She cries softly while staring up at the star they named together as kids. She walks over to his grave and has a small, one-sided conversation with him.
- “Eren, how I miss you. I still regret everything I’ve done. Killing you, crying and coming to you about it. God, I feel guilty over something that’s doesn’t matter anymore. It’s been 15 years anyway. I still can’t let you go. Jean says I need to find someone else. I just can’t let go of my one true love.”
She gripped her scarf as she inhaled Eren’s fading scent. She only smelled her dried tears and past trauma. She gave the grave a hug before getting up and going home. She went to her bed and decided to rest. She had sewn an Eren plush to comfort her when she’s upset. With this plushie, she had fallen asleep in about 5 minutes.
Her alarm started ringing at exactly 6:30 am. She jolted up and out of bed, flinging the plush across the room. She went to grab it and put it back on her bed. She went to her kitchen and got breakfast. Nothing too fancy, just plain old stuff like water, a small bowl of fruit, and an egg on the side. She went to go visit Eren once more and she say a dove approach her. It landed on her shoulder, and she knew it was Eren.
- “It’s gorgeous out today, isn’t it, Eren?”
The bird flew to her other shoulder(which means yes) and she laughed softly. She laid in the grass while staring at the sky. The dove flew off into a tree and she went to go visit Armin with a small basket of food, consisting of two sandwiches, fruit, a little bit of juice, and water. She knocked on the door and Armin went to go answer it.
- “Hey, Mikasa! How are you?”
- “I’m okay, thanks for asking, Armin! I think Eren was trying to communicate with me just now.”
- “Was he now? Well, when he comes back, tell him I said hi.”
- “I will, Armin.”
