Spooked

Summary:

Vash accidentally scares Wolfwood.

Notes:

I really wanted to write some uncanny Vash... he's super cool when he's scary imo

(Also I wasn't really thinking whether this is Trimax, 98 or Stampede Vash and Wolfwood but I don't think it really matters.. )

(...You can also interpret this as Vashwood I also wasn't really thinking of that haha)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Wolfwood had left the motel earlier to grab some groceries from the local market for him and Vash. Vash agreed to stay behind so he could clean up from a gun fight the two had found themselves in prior.

Wolfwood strolled into the building holding a big brown bag full of food and other items and stumbled up the stairs, eventually reaching their room.

“Oi, spikes! Ya in there?” Wolfwood hollered. No response.

“..Needle-Noggin..?”

Wolfwood slowly cracked open the door and peeked inside. He found nothing except for Vash’s coat hanging on one of the chairs. The lights weren't on, and the only thing illuminating the room was the moon's faint glow. “Fuckin’ weird..” He mumbled.

He quietly stepped inside their room, sitting down the groceries. Wolfwood searched for Vash. Surely that broomhead couldn't have left, right?

Wolfwood caught the thumping of boots in the bathroom and jumped.

“Who's there!?” He shouted as he whipped towards the noise. The thumping stopped.

Anxiety washed over him. He prayed to god there weren't any bandits or bounty hunters in the room looking for Vash.

He carefully inched towards the bathroom door, pulling out a gun from his pocket and aiming it in front of him. His hand trembled as he reached for the door knob. He opened the door and peered inside the pitch-dark room.

He wasn't met with bandits, or bounty hunters. He was – however – met with a tall figure with luminous eyes piercing through him. The stranger started towards Wolfwood, and he fled.

“AH! H-Hey!! Stay back!” Wolfwood yelped and fell to the ground, pointing his gun towards the being towering over him. They grabbed his shoulder.

“Wolfwood!” They spoke. The moon’s light lit up their face, and Wolfwood realized his “assailant” was that stupid broomhead after all.

“Hey! Are you okay!?” He asked. Genuine worry painted Vash’s face.

Wolfwood stared at Vash for a second before punching him.

“God damn it Spikey! Ya scared the crap out of me!” Wolfwood yelled.

“I'm sorry!! I really didn't mean it.. I didn't even hear you come in!” Vash said as he rubbed his face. It was swollen.

“Bullshit! I'm pretty damn sure I woke up everyone with how loud I screamed. What were ya even doin’ anyways?” Wolfwood asked as he stood up and dusted himself off.

“I was cleaning up! I thought I told you that.”

“Then why didn't you say anything when I called for ya, dipshit!?” Wolfwood squawked.

“Because I didn't hear you! Honest!!” Vash replied.

“Whatever. Help me unpack the groceries." Wolfwood muttered as he pointed to the bag on the table. Vash nodded. He mumbled another "sorry" before he started to help Wolfwood.
