“think about what scott’s gonna do to you shelby!”
shelby threw another punch at pryo. then another. then another. his blood staining her colorless knuckles
shelby looked into pryo’s eyes, as she brought the stake up over her head. his bloodshot pupils shaking. desperate and afraid. the same feeling avid felt, before he was staked
it was only fair.
“scott’s gonna be”
shelby held her breath and closed her eyes, as she brought the stake down into pryo’s chest
“glad!”
slience. a ringing in shelby’s ear
she reopened her eyes again to see pryo laying under her, colder than usual. his body completely still, his eyes fogged. it almost freaked shelby out just how still he was. only seconds ago he was fighting back, pleading for his life
shelby felt her hands shake. she could have sworn she could feel her heart beating in her chest too. like she could feel it in her throat
she looked down at her hands, staring at broke stake that laid in it, pieces of the wood piercing her hand
she didn’t notice till now just how bloodied her hands were. the feelings in her hand coming back into her, her hand now aching. she must have been so blinded by her own rage that she hadn’t even noticed. she didn’t have claws to attack pryo. just her fist. she wondered if her hands could still bruise
shelby finally felt herself breathe. very short, hallow breaths, but breathing nonetheless. not like pryo could do that now
shelby touched her cheeks. they felt hot to the touch. could they even do that? or was she just imagining it. shelby didn’t know. she didn’t really care, at least not in that moment
she took her hands and pushed herself back up onto her feet. her knees felt weak, wobbling under her own weight. shelby wasn’t sure if it was the guilt weighing down on her, or if she had just hit her knee too hard
she looked down at pryo again, towering over him. she never imagining towering over anyone in her life, let alone towering her own sire. someone she once considered her family. shelby wondered if pryo ever considered her to be family to. probably not. pryo was just in it for himself, he didn’t care about anyone but him, at least that’s what shelby assumed, though she didn’t think her theory would be disproven any time soon
what would shelby tell the others? they must have gotten the news by now that another vampire had lost their life. was shelby supposed to play dumb? could she tell anyone? or would they all look at her like she was a monster
was she a monster?
no. she couldn’t have be. she just had to do what had to have been done. she killed the monster
footsteps. shelby could hear footsteps coming from the stairs. a part of her was shouting at her to run. she didn’t know who was going down those stairs. it could be a human, looking to give her the same faith she gave pryo. or it could be a vampire. here to witness the person shelby had become
but shelby knew. she knew wasn’t a monster. she was just grieving. if it wasn’t her it would have been someone else. at least this way shelby could say she avenged avid
“hello?” a voice called. scott’s voice
scott would understand
scott would be glad
