Work Text:
Hello and thank you for taking interest in this AU! I am truly honored and happy that you guys check this document to get to know more about this. Anyway, without further ado, let me explain to you all the details regarding this AU.
The story starts even before season 8, Sons of Garmadon, begins.
The alterations started even in season 1. Lloyd Garmadon is son of the evil Lord Garmadon, and knowing this, Lloyd starts to wreak havoc right after he runs away from Darkleys. The 4 original Ninja (Kai, Jay, Zane, and Cole) are still too new with the ninja training and had a hard time to handle the serpentine. In this AU, the ninja start their training at a young age. This is the age for all ninja:
Lloyd - 12
Nya - 12
Kai - 13
Zane - ???
Jay - 13
Cole - 14
Morro - 14
They met Morro when he tried to protect himself from the serpentine, seemingly capable of defeating some of the snakes himself and that also caught Master Wu's attention. But he only asks him to join in later after he manages to save the ninja when they are getting in trouble and -OMG WHY OUR WEAPON START GLOWING WHEN HE GOT NEAR THEM?
Then the Green Ninja was found, together they fought against the Serpentine, found Lloyd Garmadon apparently getting captured and set him back to Darkleys. And everyone is happy!
There are tidbits of interaction between the ninja and Lloyd at this time. But we will save it for much later.
This affects a LOT, LOT of how the other seasons go. This is the gist of it (since we not really focusing on this, but rather, later when season 8 starts)
Season 2
There is no tea and what not, we got a slight timeskip instead and wow why the final battle even happened in season 2? Almost as if lego themselves never expect this series to be long enough to reach season 15- Anyway!
Morro did manage to defeat Garmadon. And it's gruesome. But everyone was very happy that they finally would be able to live peacefully now that the evil warlord is defeated. Morro got his golden power, every ninja lost theirs. Master Wu is so proud of him, and Morro couldn't be happier.
Season 3
Nothing really changes much and Zane did die and sacrifice himself. The only difference is that there's no Sensei Garmadon to fight against Master Wu and they need to defeat their sensei somehow and it's tough and Overlord is tough and everything is hard. Okay, sorry, but that's the gist of it.
Oh, and there's Pixal! So yay!
Season 4
Is a little interesting because there’s no Sensei Garmadon to join in their adventure to the Tournament of Element. And Morro got really, REALLY stressed out for having to lose one teammate, and to go secretly behind Master Wu’s back to go to Chen's Island.
Things get rough when they slowly learn about the Serpentine war but from Chen’s own story, also from other elemental masters as some of their family did share the story with them. They all said that Master Wu and Lord Garmadon lead them throughout the war, and they never even mention that Lord Garmadon was originally Chen’s student, much to everyone's shock later on. But some of the elemental masters did know that Master Wu is the one who banished the Serpentine Generals to the Cursed Realms.
NOW IMAGINE THE SAD, SHOCK, AND ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED MORRO, after preparing to get a disappointed look from his (self proclaim oh so secretly) father, only to found him still forgiving him AND THEN ASK HIM TO BANISH HIS OWN MASTER TO THE CURSED REALMS BECAUSE HE WRONGLY BANISHED THE GENERALS BACK THEN. He must do it to stop the fake anacondrai from conquering Ninjago.
Season 5 possession does not exist, sorry, it's a price we must all pay for this au.
Season 6
So… Skybound. Everyone is depressed, Jay totally has the worst time of his life and it's barely canon (man). And Morro had THREE CHANCES to hope for Master Wu to come back and he tried his best to not even utter the word.
Oh, Nya is still Samurai X in this, Pixal is still inside Zane's head, if you are wondering about it.
Season 7
Time Twins, Nya badass realization over her water element, Kai Nya and their parents reunion. Nya sacrifices her Samurai X status to become a ninja instead and helps the ninja to defeat the time twins.
More like Nya season with Kai support and Family support. I think it's funny to make the time twin get caught lost in time and get babified instead of Master Wu, but that's for no reason actually. Haha?
Morro and the Ninja dynamic, BECAUSE I'M NOTHING IF NOT AN OBSESSED OVERTHINKER AND I WANT CHARACTER IN MY AU TO FEEL LIKE THEY BELONG AND ALIVE IN THE STORYLINE (at least, mostly looks like they're living some sort of life and have interaction with each other, haha)
You guys do know well about the original ninja dynamic and their dynamic with Nya as well, so I will only be focusing on how the Ninja Team will work with Morro as the Green Ninja instead of Lloyd in the original series. Since Morro and Lloyd have almost nothing in common in the personality department. We will have almost completely different kinds of dynamics.
Kai and Morro
Kai hates it the very moment Morro joins their team. He was such a sore thumb in their already established dynamic, not to mention how fast it is for him to almost already beat them all in everything they do. Morro is a prodigy for sure, strong and (a little too much) confident. He always comments on their posture and breathing technique. Even though he is the newest member and just now learned to do proper Spinjitzu!
Kai hates how serious and enthusiastic and effortlessly great Morro is in martial arts. He hates how easy everyone is to welcome him as their new addition. Even Nya seems to like Morro just even, a little bit too fine because apparently, the guy was also quite smart and had interest in understanding machinery with her. “He treats me as equal, Kai. Not just a girl. I think that’s cool.”
He hates how easy it is to realize that he is destined to be the Green Ninja. Without checking the stupid glow in his own sword whenever Morro is near.
Kai secretly watches Morro to find something, anything that proves the Chosen One, Ninjago very own savior, Green Ninja Morro is not perfect, like how he looks to be. He watches Morro for weeks and then one day, saw The Chosen One himself angrily punch the dummy up to the point of personally annihilating it.
Wow, hello, anger issue. Kai silently thought. But before he even tries to get closer, Morro already speaks to him. Apparently already realized the stalking agenda, and then he began to ask some seriously unhinged questions like, “So what is your assessment?”, “What did I do wrong?”, “Am I not good enough? What is it that I’m missing?”, “Is it the smile? I thought I kinda got used to making it look natural by now, or what, are they too much?”
Morro was, apparently after weeks of Kai secretly hating and secretly watching him, a very intense person with borderline perfectionist tendencies. He admits that he tried to fit in with them and thought Kai was watching him because he failed somehow. That’s why he has been trying a lot more. Apparently he hates training in the blazing sun so he prefers the crack of dawn, and Kai believe this chosen one guy totally has some sort of abandonment issue and is a big worrywart since he had been asking Kai at least five different time whether Master Wu would kick him out if he can’t keep up right now.
Kai then, after knowing all of this, finally admits that he was jealous of Morro’s potential. And secretly watching him to see if he had any… “weakness” to prove that he is not in fact, the perfect ninja.
Morro looks like he can’t believe what Kai has just said. He apparently also has a big trust issue huh, possibly also self loath? Why does he seem like he can’t believe someone is genuinely praising him? -Kai thought.
Morro, in all seriousness said that he can’t handle food with intense flavor, and Nya said that he sucks at art. Much to Kai’s bewilderment at the serious response and then he laughs. Morro looks at him, confused at first, but then also laughing along with Kai.
After that, they had some sort of sibling-ish dynamic, Kai always thought Morro is too intense and serious at whatever he put his mind to. Almost like he was absorbed by it. So he needs Kai and Nya to help him “stop being a monk and integrate with human society” sometimes.
+++Kai also proclaimed himself to be the middle child, Nya the youngest, and Morro the oldest sibling. That’s their RGB Dynamic.
+++Morro often asks Kai about pop culture references, since he can’t trust Jay, thinks Cole as clueless as him, and Zane will explain it in depth to the point that Morro will be too confused to even ask further.
+++But if it's between Kai or Nya, Morro will ask Nya first if he needs to know something.
+++Kai always says that he and Morro have a brother rivalry, Morro will refute.
Nya and Morro
At first Nya is also just as skeptical as Kai about Morro joining the team. But she got over it very quickly. All because Morro is the first to ever address him as an equal in the monastery. He might be too awkward and seriously intense sometimes, mostly because of how big the Green Ninja title is and how even if he doesn't admit it, Nya knows that Morro is scared to let Master Wu down. Nya could understand that, she also got some daddy issues going on.
There’s also this secret sly side of him that he was all too eagerly agreed to keep Nya’s Samurai X identity a secret before Kai even knew. Claiming that, “Let those silly idiots doing their wild goose chase and beat them at their game, Nya.”
They get along a little bit too well, much to Kai’s disappointment. Since this means the two genius sides of the sibling keep agreeing with each other and Kai will always be the odd one out. And keep losing arguments, he hates losing arguments to them.
But on the other side, Kai admits that one of the worst things that happened in his life was when Nya and Morro did have an argument. The cold war between them is so intense, both are stubborn and keep sending icy glare or snarky remarks at each other. Sometimes, Kai even gets caught in a crossfire.
+++Morro admits that Nya is his favorite sibling and second in command if anything ever happens to him when they are on a mission.
+++Morro and Nya are a menace together. Never ever cross paths with them as an enemy.
+++They got to a point when they can talk only with their eyes.
+++When Kai is doing something stupid, they both look at each other. (“Your older brother, Nya.” “No, it’s your little brother, Morro.”)
Zane and Morro
Zane, being the best boy ever, is the first one to ever welcome Morro. Albeit it felt really diplomatic in a way because of Zane nature to always act proper and polite, so Morro at first thought that he was just being nice, not actually accepting Morro or anything.
But then Zane does that to everyone, and he keeps reminding Morro to drink water and not miss any lunch or dinner. It was subtle, but Zane does realize how Morro still felt left out and at loss on what to do to make him feel better. So he did what he did best: To talk in a matter of factly manner and ask Morro if there’s anything he could do to assist Morro to feel better. Much to Morro’s embarrassment over being called out like that. But Zane was considerate enough to ask Morro alone, so no one heard what they were talking about.
Zane is Morro’s favorite brother. And the other boys know this, sometime use it as reason to complain, and other time use it at their advantage and use Zane to persuade Morro to have a day off at training (so they all can have a day off as well)
+++The only time Morro doesn’t like Zane is everytime Zane innocently states how incredibly poisonous Morro’s cooking is. Perhaps he should embrace it and learn to make poison for real instead? Cole laughs at this, despite also being incredibly bad at cooking (“Hey! At least mine is edible!” Cole would say)
Cole and Morro
Despite Zane being the first one to welcome him, Cole is the first one to warmly welcome him in. The guy is big and so is his heart, but Morro feels much more at odds than ever. He can always handle untrusty looks like Kai’s, or the warry gesture like Nya’s. Zane is welcoming but very polite, Jay is rather… Morro doesn’t want to come near him. And Cole, is the warmest, most honest, and easy to get along with. Which scares Morro more than anything. He’s not used to it.
He can’t understand people that are just genuinely nice without any particular gain from it. It makes him overthink all of Cole’s possible motives of being nice, meanwhile Cole, ever blissfully unaware of this, so he just keeps doing his things.
They eventually come to mutual understanding as Morro finally gives up on finding any motives and tries to ask Cole instead, which prompts Cole to laugh at how weird Morro is (which in turn, make Morro insist that Cole is the weird one! Who just gives people warm hugs and accepts them to their family WITHOUT PROPER REASON?)
+++Like what mentioned before, Morro and Cole share their abysmal cooking sense. Though Cole insists his cooking is at least edible.
+++Cole likes to act like the second oldest brother, and he is. He was also the original leader of the team, but he is laid back and he lets both Morro and Nya fuss over the details of their strategy and giving orders. He only stands in whenever they need extra moral support.
+++Morro judges Cole’s cake intake, in return Cole judges the old man tea taste that Morro has. (“Your taste is ancient, dude. Just like Master Wu, although it was fitting for him.” “Do not make fun of Master Wu!” “... That’s your issue with my comment?”)
Jay and Morro
Morro at first hates Jay for his humor, Jay in return, is secretly also disliked and afraid of Morro. Although he disguises it with his humor at Morro’s expense, which makes them even more distant toward each other.
Things start to get better when Kai, Cole, and Zane accidentally tell Morro about Jay's (actually very obvious) crush on Nya. And how they all thought that Jay was probably jealous of how easy it was for Morro to get close to Nya. Which in return, makes Morro even more confused. The guy has 0 human usual social skills, don’t judge.
Morro asks Nya about what she thinks about Jay, and to his surprise, Nya has a LOT of things to say. Mostly good things. That prompts Morro to try a different approach to deal with Jay. Instead of looking like he wants to chew the guy out (like how he always did), He actually tries to… open normal conversation. It went horribly at first.
Then everything clicks when Morro asks Jay things about Nya instead. It was such an easy solution that he felt stupid to not try that one first. Jay in return realizes that Morro is just trying his best to adapt, although in his own unique way. He tries to explain jokes and pop culture (that makes Morro even more confused) but then they find out that Morro is actually stupidly bad at combat based video games, but really good at the scary ones so Jay asks him to play a game together (the scary kind) and they bond over it.
+++Jay is the one who accidentally introduces Morro to emo music
+++They have routines of playing horror video games and everyone would watch Morro hit the ghost with blank face while Jay gets scared, but also sometimes explain the lore of the game to everyone.
+++Jay still jokes a lot, but now Morro learn to not take it too personally (it fails sometimes) (Ok a lot of times) But now Jay is somewhat used to get death glares (he could just hide behind Nya)
NOW THAT YOU GOT ALL THE MORRO SIDE OF THE STORY, BEFORE WE GO IN DETAIL FOR SEASON 8, LETS SEE WHAT LLOYD HAS BEEN DOING ALL THIS TIME SHALL WE?
Get bonked by the ninja after his silly little adventure (aka getting kidnapped by the very snake tribe he “helps”/slaved) Lloyd Garmadon was sent back to his school for evil boys. Now being accepted back after the slight horror the whole Ninjago has over the rampant snakes. He tried to fit in with the other kid but failed miserably at first. But then start to bond with one of his former rivals/enemy/bully, Gene Quinn (I had to make a surname for him, damnit!). And his former (questionable) best friend, Brad Tudabone.
Gene accepts Lloyd as part of his crew. And together, the trio rise above other kids for being the best evil team there is. Gene is the genius evil mastermind that excels in evil planning, strategizing, mindgames, and general study like physics, mathematics, and all sorts of things basically.
Meanwhile, Brad excels in biology, especially plantation, by this also includes poisons, medicine, and is their personal medic in the team. He is also really good at preparing and planning all manner of traps.
Lloyd is their active agent doing most of the dirty work and acts as their representation if needed. He is the strongest physically due to (unknown to him and everyone up to this point) his dragon and oni genes, he is fast, he heals fast, excels is wielding a lot of different weapons, and totally beats other students in any manner of duel. He is also, interestingly enough, really good at history and archeological studies, he also takes interest in learning old ninjagons relics and tries to read some of them.
Anyway, other than doing some secret mission to get better grades and some school programs. These three kids secretly go around and get more information about Lord Garmadon, about how to find him, how to perhaps summon him. Lloyd really wants to meet his dad directly, not from the shades he sometimes took form of, or the little gifts he tried so hard to send to Lloyd. Their relationship is almost good, if it weren’t for the lack of actual meeting.
But the final battle is getting close, Garmadon could feel it. And he begins to ask Lloyd to try to find his mother instead.
Lloyd, thinking that his mother never once cared about him, refuses, they even had a fight about it. Lloyd firmly believes that his mother never loved him and Garmadon refutes this tirelessly.
They never had a chance to talk again and the final battle eventually starts. It took Garmadon’s lives and everyone is very happy about it. But not Lloyd. He begins to get consumed by depression and starts messing up in his mission. To the point that he fights with Gene and Brad trying desperately to get between them.
They all finally made up after Gene found out something about the Darkleys hidden information that somehow also related to Lloyd’s missing Mom. He and Brad showed this finding to Lloyd, while Gene also told Lloyd to “Stop acting like a boy and start acting like a villain instead, you know damn well we only exist because there’s something wrong with this world.”
All three of them are not the most emotionally stable or sane individual, even when they are all in Darkleys, which are full of unhinged boys. But they made up. And they now have something in common they want to know about: Darkleys secrets and what it has to do with Lloyd’s Mom disappearance.
Then, the next couple of years are full of Lloyd 1) finding out what happened to his Mother, 2) being elected to be the Jade Prince by the Empress and Emperor due to his vast knowledge of Ninjago History, his looks, and physical abilities, 3) with his new title resource, he funded an organization called Sons of Garmadon. A biker gang that is managed by Gene and Brad from the shadows.
Details on each events:
- Gene manages to locate a secret box containing letters from all different parents of the students. To their shock, letters from Misako M. Garmadon is one of the most often found in the box. It was addressed to Lloyd. All of them are his mother’s letters for him from the very first day he stayed at Darkleys.
They found out more about her expeditions, some of her promises. The fact that she did this to prevent Garmadon and The Green Ninja from fighting each other. She is sorry for leaving Lloyd all these years, more promises to be back soon and get him.
The last letter was about how she needed to try to find a really secluded and most likely dark island with an important temple, and how dangerous it would be and how she wished she could just give up and take Lloyd instead. But she couldn't give up on Garmadon.
Lloyd and Brad manage to get to the island that is located by Genes, Lloyd finally understands where his interest in history and relics comes from. He is ready to find his mom and perhaps, perhaps they can start anew-
They found her remains. With her final letter. Another sorry, another regrets, and last gift for Lloyd that she never managed to send. Twin blade sword with the exact same weight and have both dragon and oni carved respectively. His father's first ever blade. The last thing connecting him, his mom, and his dad.
They are far faster, stronger, and have a much better chance at getting to the temple. So they finally found it and got back to their secret meet up place. Gene managed to locate even more things and they found dozens of unopened gift boxes. All for each birthday Misako missed when she was away, all for Lloyd. Each has a “Happy birthday” and “I am sorry” written all over.
Lloud found his mom and lost her at the same time.
- The Jade Prince was selected from a few candidates of all different instances from all over Ninjago. Gene, Brad, and Lloyd manage to fake Lloyd's whole background to create a good orphan image for Lloyd. With Gene being the scariest director recorded in history and forcing Lloyd to get better at acting even if it’s the last thing he ever did. Gene was so serious about it he got almost depressed at how bad Lloyd acting was. So they tried a different approach: rather than making Lloyd lie a lot, they tried to let him direct the answer to be more vague, and put some truth in it. Some poker face training (failed miserably), and then they found out that Lloyd is great with smiles, it’s better to ask him to keep smiling brilliantly while lying rather than teaching him to be more neutral and hard to read on purpose.
Brad being surprisingly great at make ups (“It’s available in the spy class, Lloyd. You know I had a full mark for making my own ingredients for the makeup itself. Now shut up and let me doll you up.”), they tried to give him all kinds of looks, from strong, elegant look, or hard features to show power, soft looks, and they decided that natural look works better, Lloyd did have a good looking face and his innocent natural look worked best with the acting classes they had been taking.
Apparently, all that works pretty well and even better when they actually acknowledge how resourceful Lloyd is regarding ancient artifacts, Ninjago histories, and he did manage without breaking a sweat defeat other candidates in every physical test, and after some big scolding by Gene, Lloyd also manage to a) not saying dumb stuff without thinking (“It’s called having a filter, Lloyd. Stop being such an idiot!”) b) not looking stupid (“Stop looking like you have no clue all the time! Just nod a couple of times when people talk to you and smiles instead, even when you did have no idea!”) c) put his pretty face in in a good use (“Do that face when you smile so bright whenever you get that stupid mint candy!”)
He managed to get picked and all their efforts paid off.
- Jade Prince was never just a title, there are funds reserved for him and with all of his appearances, interviews, and highly complicated political schemes needed in order to keep his place in the palace and also gain trust from both the government part of Ninjago and the influential nobles (“Thanks, Gene”), it’s actually very ludicrous job with fancy title and slowly he began to recruit members for the Sons of Garmadon.
One of the random thing they’ve done is that one time they jokingly creates a Jade Prince limited 100 plushies that totally just an april fools joke on the ninjago official websites using Lloyds official social media account and there is a lot, LOT of people actually wants to buy it (from highschool girls to creepily enough, some middle aged man, they all hope it was for the man’s daughter or something-)
So they finally knitted the plushie themselves, Lloyd still has a lot of royal study and meet ups, mostly Brad and Gene doing the work after making the post themselves. It’s stupidly profitable for a joke and they both confused on whether to get annoyed by this or impressed.
They decide to get annoyed because of how much this affects Lloyd's big ego.
Their biggest, most ambitious plan yet is to both beat the Ninja and destroy Ninjago City. It was Lloyd’s revenge plan. Both Brad and Gene agree to help him for their own reasons (ahem, friendships.)
Gene is, of course, the mastermind of the whole mission. He is the one making calls on every impactful decision and creating every part of the meticulous plan they created in order to defeat the ninja and destroy the city. The biggest factor of their plan is whether the oni mask, the most crucial item they needed, really works like they had planned.
You see, back when Lloyd and Brad collected the artifacts in the temple Misako was trying to find. They found out more information about the oni, the three powerful masks that were scattered in all ninjago, and their ritual that could open a gate that could summon any oni they wish for.
Garmadon, just like Lloyd, is part oni.
Gene has a theory that in doing the ritual, they might end up with either of three scenarios 1) a failed ritual, 2) a husk of what Garmadon is, since it's only his oni part, 3) Garmadon himself, but he now fully his oni genes.
Lloyd was really hoping for the 3rd option. But whichever it would be, he will still try to do the ritual.
So then begin the part that has the most fanart hahaha
Season 8
You know what mostly happened already! So I'm only explaining the gist and then Morro’s and Lloyd’s personal opinion on the whole situation.
The first meeting, Lloyd excitedly welcomed the Ninja, claiming to be their fan. Especially claiming that he is The Green Ninja's biggest fan. Making Morro all flustered and awkward by the warm welcome. There are certainly some attractions catching on Morro’s part. And Lloyd was at first totally oblivious to the whole ordeal since he was too focused on making a great impression so they wont suspect him at all.
Also, because he hates them so much that it's really hard to not show any hostility if he is not being 100% focused.
He then tries to get closer to Morro, as his main target of revenge, tries to get his trust and asks him many questions by pretending to be a really huge fanboy. Which also gives him many information such as: Uncle Wu is like a father figure to Morro and he deeply missed him, he was scared that he might lose another family which are the ninjas, and how his responsibilities as the green ninja makes him slowly losing himself. That anyone will never see him more than his gi.
Lloyd found himself relating a lot with Morro, and begins to tell his (distorted) story, on how he is an orphan before the Emperor and Empress adopts him, how he missed his real dad and mom dearly, how he wishes he wasn’t the jade prince and how everything feels like they were falling apart.
[ Brad told him to not get too attached. And actually, falling for the guy you suppose to hate is not part of the plan, now, does it?
Lloyd scoffed, Why would I fall for a guy that literally killed my dad?
Lloyd and Brad look at each other seriously, and then Brad says, When you start to believe that all he's done is not what he ever wanted to do. You will lose.”
You will fall, he think of it, and none of them said it]
He falls hard, but blissfully denies the whole thing. Much to Gene’s frustration because he need to create some back up plans if Lloyd did fuck things up and even decide to abort the whole mission.
But even when he did admit his feelings later on, Lloyd still does his revenge plan. Aiming to use his newfound feeling to further destroy Morro instead.
It’s hard to hate a guy that genuinely likes him dearly. With the soft eyes and little smile he makes whenever Lloyd is near. The touch brushing his hair. The roses he gives, claiming that it matches his real eyes. As if he could see the real Lloyd, which is ironic. Because he is not.
[Gene informs Lloyd that since Uncle Wu is trapped in the Cursed Realms, and are also part of oni. They could, very much, try to summon him instead. Let him wreck havoc in Ninjago and force Morro to fight his own father figure. That would make a perfect revenge, they could try to summon Lloyd’s own father much later. When they understand more about the nature of the oni mask. But Lloyd refuses it.
“What if this mask can only summon one person?” - Lloyd
“Well, it's still a perfect revenge plan. Isn’t it revenge that you want so badly?” -Gene
“Well, yes! But I want my dad more. We will do this together, me and dad. There’s no need for that part of the plan to change.” - Lloyd
“And you both have a chance to get defeated by the ninja instead. Are you fine with that?” - Brad
“At least we both will go to Departed Realms together. I don't care, as soon as the resurrection starts, you both need to get away as far as possible.” -Lloyd
Lloyd is the executioner of the plan, Gene and Brad were just helping. That’s the agreement. Lloyd doesn’t want to lose other people that are important to him (“I mean you Brad, because ew Gene.” “Hey!”)]
The plot will be Morro and Ninja Team liking Lloyd, accepting him to be around, and then all of them get backstabbed (Morro much more affected in this case, being the closest) and then Lloyd’s main plan to bring back his dad and destroy the city together with his dad happened. And just like Harumi in the real SOG, Lloyd did die by the end of hunted.
The difference between them would be Lloyd actively choosing to die with his dad, instead of trying running away from the building, he tried to shield both himself and his dad with everything he learned about being oni while he and his dad interact. But he failed and they both died.
Another difference is that the Garmadon they manage to summon looks like… Sensei Garmadon instead, which confuses everyone. Except Lloyd, he was happy to know that his father and him share a lot of similarities now that he is in human looking form.
Yes, human looking, because Garmadon is fully oni. But he actively chooses to shapeshift to his human form and he is Sensei Garmadon in personality. Since even Lloyd denies it all the time, what he ever wanted was a life with his family. So he failed to summon the “evil” side of his father. But despite Garmadon keep trying to get Lloyd past his revenge, Lloyd keeps pushing through. Which resulted in them both dying.
In the end, Skylor manages to steal Garmadon’s destruction power and steal the Oni Golem. Garmadon is losing, and Lloyd did not want to see his father die a second time right in front of him. So instead he uses his oni mask and tries to channel his own destruction power. He asks Brad and Gene to take his father’s weakened body to somewhere safe and ultimately dies from the Oni Golem attack but he does manage to destroy it.
Fuelled by grief, Garmadon loses his mind and finally, the Lord Garmadon part of him appears once again. A second final battle occurs, and just as the first one: Nobody really wants the fight, but they did anyway. Morro manages to defeat Lord Garmadon once again, or perhaps, Lord Garmadon gives him the victory once again. Claiming that he can’t leave Lloyd waiting anymore.
That’s how it ends: Morro won the fight, but Lloyd got everything he ever wanted: His revenge, His Dad, and the whole city destroyed while the Ninja got the worst week they ever had in their whole life. Oh, and Morro’s heart, as an added bonus while he crushed it.
Some interesting scenes that I like a lot but not sure where to put in timeline (I need to rewatch SOG Istg-)
THE REVEAL HAHAHAHA
Gene had planned it all out perfectly, Brad had help with the trap and making sure they did manage to hacking into Samurai X’s mech and the Lloyd fuck it all up. How was he supposed to know that Morro would just jump like that to get him?
Lloyd was supposed to act like he was being kidnapped by the hacked Samurai X mech, meanwhile actually he was going to The Oni Temple alone and get the mask of hatred himself. It would be faster to get the mask and get away from the island with Samurai X mech. But the plan would need to be improvised. Lloyd has actually always been pretty good at that, despite Gene’s protest and complaint.
Instead of a fast tracked trip to get the mask and get out. He then began to act all innocent and oblivious to the nature of the Temple. Meanwhile, despite getting a broken arm and totally not in condition to fight, Morro did always, always act as his shield whenever there’s as much as a sudden noise coming nearby. Which makes Lloyd feel more frustrated than anything.
When they arrive at the Oni Temple, Lloyd realizes he can’t really get away from the confrontation and brace himself. As he expected, as soon as he took the mask without any issue, everything clicked instantly. And now Morro was looking at him like he just couldn't believe it.
Which makes Lloyd smile instead. He realized even if he did enjoy Morro’s company (and likes him), he still wants this. He just couldn’t get past everything that happened, or everyone that he lost because of the prophecy.
[“You are not just Lloyd, You are Lloyd Garmadon. The Quiet One.”
“Oh? And what gives it away? Dear Father Killer?”]
The fight was brief and Morro hesitated a lot, which gave Lloyd all the opportunity to get past him and leave him slowly drowning in the now ruined temple.
LORD GARMADON RESURRECTION
The ritual was such a big momentum for Lloyd. He planned this (Gene did) all his life and now is the time to actually summon his own father using the three oni mask. There could be anything wrong with this and he might never even meet his father anymore, but Lloyd might as well try his best or die trying.
The ritual needs hair from the wife, hair from the son, and the three oni masks. Which isn’t that hard because he is his father’s son. But the fact that he needs his mother’s … remains… for the ritual still brings some sort of pain through his chest. And yet he was still standing there, with all the three masks aligned. Both hands raising up praying for his father to finally hear him.
He did, and they finally met up again.
His father’s complexion was so much different from how he once was. The gray hair and aging features of his face show a lot of hardships. The bloodshot red eyes now changed to its original pair of purple. Lloyd finally gets just how much he and father share similarities, as they are practically the same person in different colors.
Father hugs him just as soon as he comes to being, Lloyd can’t help himself but cries.
(More scenes I drafted, lets just not mention it now and just see that as extra scenes and be happy with it okkk)
ANYWAY ENJOY SNEAK PEAK OF WHAT NEXT AFTER THIS AU BCS I CANT KEEP THIS IN BASEMENT FOR LONGER I JUST CANT
yes. Dragon Rising is the Lloyd Redemption arc.
Someone unlucky enough to read this doc might ask: “Wait, so all this Son of Garmadon and Hunted arc to the point of Lloyd dying is just a build up for the actual story?”
Me: “… Uh yeah? I think, Idk. TOTALLY NOT BCS I FORGOT TO PUT ANYTHING ROMANCE IN THE SOG AND HUNTED SO NOW I NEED TO SHOW U GUYS WHY THEM GREENIES IDIOTS MADE FOR EACH OTHER-“
The story will follow the plotline from the original Dragons Rising season! Albeit with a lot more to do with Lloyd and Morro being absolute complicated human beings that act like exes BUT THEY NEVER EVEN DATED IN THE FIRST PLACE SO I GUESS THAT'S SOMETHING??
In which Lloyd and (now) Sensei Garmadon manage to somehow escape the Departed Realms, got stuck in the wildness, and then slowly found out that Imperium has been trying to kidnap every dragon in existence and despite both of them being more lenient to their oni side, they decide to help the dragons.
Hence, the reunion in Imperium.
In the Illustration you just see above, Lloyd was shocked when he saw Morro standing in front of him with a really scary look on his face. Arin, the teen boy that Lloyd met when he tried to look for a little dragon on the loose, was the one that was actually calling toward Morro. Apparently, Morro is the “Awesome Master, not that he lets me call him that. He’s kinda out “temporary tutor in defense class” whatever that means” that Arin has been fanboying about.
Arin was just in the middle of excitedly starting to introduce Lloyd before Morro suddenly punched the blonde in the face. Lloyd, who didn't pay much attention before, was quite shocked and actually cursed before he realized who the hell just punched him in his -self proclaimed, but actually accurate- pretty face.
“Oh… It’s you…” Lloyd said dumbly, “Hi?”
Morro did not appreciate Lloyd’s stupid attempt at being civil right after getting punched.
“Lloyd Garmadon.” Morro instead said. Arin gasped.
“Wait what, Master- I mean Teacher, No! He’s Dyoll Danmagor, he helps me when I get in… trouble hehe.” Arin explains sheepishly.
^Lloyd starts to run when he realizes there are more ninjas probably coming. But he was quickly stopped by his Father and proceeded being forced to apologize multiple times.
“I’m so sorry for all the trouble I caused!” Lloyd said.
“Not enough.” Sensei Garmadon told him.
Lloyd kneels in front of them, looking defeated. “I am so, so, sorry for the trouble I caused. I will be better.”
Sensei Garmadon smiles at his son, “It’s not enough. But I’m glad you’ve tried, Lloyd.”
^Morro is so confused on what the fuck actually happened, and what was that apologized even for? There's so many things messed up in the situation that he can’t even begin to understand or react to any of it.
