Work Text:
"Okay!" The manager clapped his hands together as this shift's staff gathered in the break room. "Today is the first day of our new seasonal menu, so be sure you're pushing the new drinks. Also, anytime someone orders a drink, ask them if they want something to eat with that and recommend the cranberry bliss bar. If we don't sell enough this season, they get discontinued. They're my favorite, so don't let me down, A-Team!"
Timmy couldn't help but smile. He loved Bobby's nickname for this group. It was all his favorite people to work with, and it had been a while since they all opened together. Danny did a poor job stifling a yawn, and Jimmy sighed before he headed to the front to turn on the open sign.
"That's the spirit!" Bobby, ever the optimist, seemed unphased by his employees lack of enthusiasm for cranberry bliss bars, and the group all went to their stations to start the day.
Once they'd survived the morning rush, things began to slow down. Soon enough though, there was the chime of the entrance door. Timmy looked over to see a mop of curly brown hair atop tan skin walk through the door, and he grinned.
"Oh, Danny," he sang with a teasing voice.
Danny looked up and nervously adjusted his hair as the customer approached the register. Once the order was taken, the two began to chat, and Timmy grabbed a cup. He did his job by writing "Manny" on it and then went above and beyond. By the time he was finished, a myriad of hearts decorated the cup, and Danny's phone number was written in the midst of them. He looked over to see Manny still standing at the register chatting with Danny, and began to approach his targets. Jimmy scowled at him, but Timmy just waved him off.
"Here ya go, Manny," Timmy said as he held out the drink. "This is from Danny."
A look of pure horror flashed across Danny's face as Manny took in all the hearts and the phone number.
"Oh, is it?" Manny said with a mischievous grin. "I'll enjoy this even more than usual then."
Danny stood frozen, which seemed odd since his face was flushed enough to melt a glacier. Manny just laughed and said goodbye with a wave and a wink.
"How could you do this to me," Danny demanded as he turned and grabbed Timmy by the shoulders. Timmy broke out laughing, before Bobby chimed in,
"Good job, Timmy! Danny was going to fumble that forever."
"I was not!" Danny retorted, "I had a plan!"
"Sure you did." Timmy narrowed his eyes and grinned.
Jimmy's voice cut through the air as he scolded them, "Can you guys stop messing around? We've barely sold any bliss bars today."
"Oh yeah, like you've been doing so much to help with that," Timmy said sarcastically. "I've heard you on the headset and you're not even asking the people in the drive-through if they want them."
"Okay, okay; back to work." Bobby smiled as he cut their argument short.
The rest of the day wasn't too bad, although Danny kept shooting Timmy death glares, and Jimmy seemed to get even more irritated as the shift dragged on.
Finally, it was time to clock out, and Timmy strategically took a while to hang his apron up. Jimmy finally walked in, and Timmy cleared his throat.
"Um, are you doing anything this weekend?"
"Why do you ask?" Jimmy inquired.
Danny's voice suddenly joined in, "He wants to take you on a date."
Timmy spun around to see his friend walking into the room.
"DANNY!" He screeched.
Danny began laughing as he clocked out and put up his apron.
"Hey, you mess with my love life, I'm gonna mess with yours."
"I had a plan!" Timmy moaned.
"Sure you did." Danny smiled and playfully bumped his shoulder into Timmy's as he walked past. "Have fun you two!" He waved and then was out the door.
Timmy turned back towards Jimmy, who looked completely caught off guard.
"You want to go on a date with me?" He asked, "The two of us, together?"
Timmy blushed and looked away before saying,"Uh, maybe?"
"Okay, sure."
His eyes snapped back to Jimmy and he stared in shock. Had he just said yes? So easily and quickly? Jimmy's smile confirmed that Timmy was not hearing things, and the two of them began to make plans.
The rest of the holiday season at Quintessential Coffee passed in a blur, and to Bobby's dismay, the team did not sell enough cranberry bliss bars. But between the two pairs of lovebirds, there was more than enough bliss to make up for it.
