“I want to kiss Selina.”
“Well, I want to kiss her, too. You can kiss Bruce.”
“Does Selina get a say in all this?” Selina laughs as she watches Clark and Lois bicker. The New Year was drawing close, and with four people in the relationship and only so long to kiss as the new year started, it was causing a bit of a hassle between them all. “Maybe I want to kiss Bruce. What would you do then?”
“You always kiss Bruce.” Clark pouts, and Bruce only chuckles, giving a shrug. “Why don’t you kiss me? Lois and Bruce can share a New Year’s kiss instead. I’m a good kisser. You know that.”
“But what about me, Selina? Don’t you wanna kiss me? You did mention that you liked kissing me the most…” Despite Lois’s typical demeanor, it wasn’t unusual for her to be a little less demanding and a little more pleading when it came to Selina. Since Selina had the pick of the litter, she had to try harder. “Don’t choose Clark.”
“Hm… Bruce, what do you think? Do you have a preference?” Selina looks over at him as she drinks from her champagne glass. Bruce had hardly been paying much attention, mostly watching the various musical acts on the TV. “You’ll have to kiss the other one.”
“You know I don’t have favorites.” Bruce hums, finally turning his attention back. He chuckles when he sees Clark and Lois standing over Selina, who looked like she was loving the attention. “But… If I had to choose, I think that you should kiss… No, I’ve changed my mind. I think you’ll have to decide.”
Clark and Lois both grumble and whine, knowing it would be no use trying to get an answer out of Bruce now. He was going to be dead set on watching them squabble to see who gets what.
“How about this? You two can do rock, paper, scissors.” Selina finishes off her glass, setting it aside. “The winner gets to kiss me. Bruce will abstain. Does that work?”
“Well, it isn’t really you choosing, but…” Clark pouts. “Alright. I can’t argue about the outcome, then.”
“I don’t want to leave it to chance. I want a concrete answer-”
And just like that, they were back to debating. Selina just sighs and rolls her eyes, and Bruce was keeping an eye on the clock. They only had a matter of minutes before the clock would strike twelve, and they’d have to make a split-second decision. It didn’t seem like there was going to be any decision made before that. Selina just ignores them this time, leaning around Clark’s frame to see the TV.
“Okay, Selina, we’ve come to an agreement.” With a single minute left on the clock, they finally turn back to her, determined. “We’re going to do the rock, paper, scissors game.”
“Sure.” By now, Selina had gotten another glass of champagne. “On three. One, two, three.”
Clark throws rock, and Lois throws scissors. “Damn it!”
“Yes!” Clark looks ecstatic, and his grin grows from ear to ear immediately. “I win! I never win these things. Oh, gosh. This is awesome.”
“Alright then, boy scout. Come here. You’re the lucky winner.” Selina stands, guiding Clark closer to her by his collar. He gulps as she comes closer. The countdown starts behind them, and Selina’s sure that Lois has found Bruce, but she’s not focused on anything but what was about to happen. “I hope you prove to be as good as you talked yourself to be.”
“Three, two, one… Happy New Year!”
As the cheers and the celebrations on the TV echo behind them, Clark pulls Selina in for the kiss, dipping her and kissing her hard. She lets out a delighted laugh against his lips, managing not to spill a single drop of her champagne. “Mm. Now that is how you kiss a woman, Clark!”
He’s a blushing mess by the time they pull away, but he looks pretty pleased with himself. He sneaks a quick peck before he turns back around, his jaw dropping as the sees the two behind him.
Instead of a simple New Year’s kiss, Lois and Bruce are practically making out with each other, Lois in his lap. “... Holy crap.”
“What are you waiting for, Clark?” Selina laughs, giving his shoulder a bump. “Let’s get in on this. What a way to start the New Year!”
