The day they outlawed supers, was the day Gamma Jack’s life fell apart. He was like a god! Why did he have to succumb to these stupid powerless beings?
Dicker kept having to relocate him and erase memories due to Jack struggling to adjust to his new reality of being a normal person.
That was until he saw you. Sure he used to have crowd of attractive women fawn over him, and sure he fought some real attractive villains, but there was nothing like you. The first time he tried to get your number you politely declined. And the times after that you kept your composure and continued to decline his invites to dinner.
“You know I could report you for stalking” she said once and somehow he only managed to fall for her harder.
“Hey! Lucious!” Bob called out seeing his friend walk into the bar.
“Bob! Good to see you man” the two hugged and settled at the bar, “why’d you call me all the way out here man?”
“Me? I thought you called me out here?” Bob said confused.
“Hey Bob!” The two turned around to see their friend Simon, “why did you call us out here?
“You too?” Bob said even more confused/
“So wait” Lucios said, “if you didnt call us out here. Who did?” he questioned
“I did” Jack popped up from behind the bar, his part time gig for the moment, making drinks for drunk normies. “I had a feeling you guys would ignore me if I asked you to come out all this way” he stated. Jack knew he wasn't well particularly liked among his hero friends due to his large ego.
“You got that right” Lucius said gulping down his drink.
“Now now let’s hear him out” Bob said, “I’m curious to see why he got us all out here”
“Thank you” Jack said partially rolling his eyes before sighing, “I wanted to invite you guys to my wedding” he said looking away.
“No way” Lucious said “The Handsome Jack, has finally settled down”
“I can’t believe it” Bob agreed
“To think you’d actually settle down with someone” Simon agreed with the two, finding the fact that Jack had finally found someone.
“Anyway” Jack said trying to move on, “it’s a small gathering, just some of her family and my family of sorts. So bring you girlfriends, wives, kids or whatever.”
The three nodded along still joking about Jack settleing down.
“This is the address and time” he said putting a small white invitation on the bench in front of them. “Oh and also” he leaned in closer, “no super powers, under no circumstances. She doesn’t know about me or my past or my powers and I want to keep it that way”
“Woah woah woah” Lucious started, “you can’t keep that kind of thing from your wife”
“Yeah man, what are you gonna do when you have kids?” Bob said
“They’ll most likely inherit the super gene”
They all made valid points but Jack wanted to keep you separate from all that.
“That’s very unusual for you Jack” Simon said in all seriousness, “you told us once that supers were a superior race and yet here you are pretending to be someone your not”
“Isnt that what we’re supposed to do now!” Jack whisper-shouted, “we’re not supposed to be who we are, we’re just supposed to be like everyone else so what’s the point in telling her” he said, pain evident in his voice. “I’m not that man anymore, I can’t be that man, not with her”
The three men gave a silent agreement to him. “Alright we’ll be there for you Jack” he said pulling out his wallet and paying for his drink. “I’ll bring Helen and the kids, too” Jack gave a thanks.
“Fine alright I’ll come too, it’d be a good chance to invite this girl I’m seeing too” Lucious agreed as they all began to leave.
“I’m very happy for you Jack” Simon said getting up and following the other men out.
“Oh hey” they all stopped standing just off from the bar.
“See if some of the other guys from the old days wanna come too” he said with a slight smile, “it’d be nice to see them again”
13 years later
Why’s he remembering all this now. Memories of him and his friends flooding his mind. Memories of you.

God what are you gonna think. You’ll think he’s abandoned you.
God he was so stupid to listen to Mirage. Just the thought of being able to provide more money for the two of you and to get that thrill of the glory days back.
God he was stupid.
