Chapter 1: sorry?

Chapter Text

This was it.

Sam stood over a bridge, late at night. Little to none of the streetlights are working. No, instead, some of them are flickering. It reminded Sam of himself.

No more interruptions, right? This time, Sam knew he probably wasn’t gonna pussy out. Considering, well, someone’s just always had to walk in on him while he tries to end it. This time, it’s different. The waves and the sound of cars passing by almost soothed Sam. He hears footsteps. Sam just hoped it wasn’t nobody he knew. If he didn’t know them, surely they probably wouldn’t care about him. Just assuming that he’s by the bridge to watch the water, right? The person walking by approaches him just as soon he’s about to jump.

“Hey!”

A loud voice startles him, almost falling off. Sam hesitates to look. His foot was at the edge by now, he slowly turns his head as the other pulled his foot. He could barely see the person, as the streetlights didn’t work. But he could see the outlines of wings. An avian. Wow. Those were rare, but not completely unexistant. After all, anything is possible. He swears he remembers the person, but he just can’t tell who it is.

“What are you doing here?”

Was the only words that Sam spoke, his shoulders slumping. His tone was almost monotonous, and his eyes were almost completely dead. Jeez, this guy was fucked up.. The other doesn’t respond for another minute or so. Sam blinks.

“Well, you seemed like you were about to jump off. So, hello.”

The other says. Sam comes to the realization that the guy is holding a dog’s leash. Sam was right infront of him now, feeling the dog’s breath on his shoe. That dog breathed really hard. And the guy was so nice, he’s so nice that he’s came to save him. How kind.

“Are you my savior?”

It took the guy aback. But he quickly shakes his head and responds back.

“No—no.. Just a passerby, you see?”

They say.

“But you have wings.”

“That doesn’t mean i’m an angel.”

“But it could.”

“It doesn’t matter. Why were you going to jump?”

“Because I wanted to?”

“That’s not a reason.”

That was when Sam realizes the guy is from his school. That’s why they seemed too familiar! Green.. No, Grant? No.. That couldn’t be it. The name doesn’t come to his mind. But he knows darn well that was the guy in his lunch period that he’s been eyeing. No. He doesn’t like him.

They fought once over somethin’ stupid, and the guy won. Sam doesn’t remember what they fought over, but he does recall something stupid. It’s too vague and far too remember, though.
