I am fine.

Summary:

Chung Myung is fine. He says. He believes. He lies.

Work Text:

Lately, Chung Myung has caught himself staring at Tang Soso, Tang Gunak, Tang Pae, Tang Zhan, and basically every other person with the name Tang. But, in all that searching, he hasn't been able to find what he was looking for. Even Tang Zhan, who looked very much like the one he was searching for, wasn't quite the same. How would a child resemble their great-great-great-granduncle, anyway?

He is fine. He told himself. Even if he doesn't remember his face, it was okay till he could remember him and carry on his will.

"Chung Myung"

"Dojang"

"Hwasen Geomhyeop"

"Sahyung"

"Sajil"

"Maehwa Geomgwi"

"Chung Myung-ah"

He was called many names, some with affection, some with respect, and others with anger and distraught. But the warm and loving way he was called 'Dosa hyung' seems to have been long gone with the person.

He is fine. He again repeated it to himself. It is just a name.

At night, he sneaked onto the roof of a pavilion with a bottle of wine. When he looked up at the moon. Even though the stars surrounded the half crescent, the moon still looked lonelier than usual. He is fine. He is fine. His cleached his heart, as it throbbed. Heisfine. Heisfine. His shoulders moved involuntarily. He is.... Not... Fine. The scarred hands he so painstakingly trained to be still in any situation, trembled violently, trying to remember his dear friend. He may not be able to remember his smile or his voice. But what he does remember is Tang Bo's bloodless hands still clutching his, so tightly that he had to claw himself out. His lifeless face staring straight at him, devoid of any emotion, still gave him nightmares.

Chung Myung sat under the moonlight alone. He opened the wine bottle and put it to his lips. Not registering any of the taste. He is fine. He told himself. His tear-streaked face made him a liar.
