    It teetered the precipice of condescending, and something that Peter wanted to get out of his dumb brain. No, no, he wasn’t gonna get himself killed by these two Slytherins.

    Peter parted his lips open anyway. Barty was still holding the cigarette between his fingertips, as if feeding him. He made a satisfied noise, breathed into his ear. “That’s good.”

    Evan leaned closer to his side. He twirled a strand of Peter’s curls, humming. Yeah. This was—really, really weird. So why can’t he let go?
