Summary
According to an ancient curse, those with the blood of the Goddess and the spirit of the hero are forever destined to be locked into an endless cycle of reincarnation to defeat the evils that plague their land. Thus, there are many epic myths of grand adventures throughout the history of Hyrule.
However, after thousands of years, the curse, the root cause, has fallen through the cracks of time, leaving the Princess, a humble merchant's son, and the Prince of the Gerudo very, very uninformed, and vulnerable.
Or: Link doesn't expect to be anything more than the son of a travelling merchant. But a fair in Castle Town teaches him how wrong that assumption was, and leads him on a dangerous quest of bravery, love, and betrayal.
