Lukey walks back to his office after yet another stressful day with whatever the hell Bad was on and the drama that always comes with Pangi never giving him a moment to relax.
He opens the double doors with little fanfare, only caring to open one. The creaking echoing across the bare walls of his laboratory.
A small snore joins the creak in the echo.
Lukey, curious as he is, peeks in to see what may be sleeping inside his office, though there was only one person this could realistically be.
A white and magenta figure was slumped over the table, dead if not only for the quiet snoring still heard coming from it.
Pili had waited for him to come back, like he's done so many times, except this time it seems Lukey was a little later than usual.
The scene melted his heart, a quiet "Naww" slipping out despite himself.
He quietly closed the door again, tip-toeing over to a corner of his office designated for his late nights filled with pillows and blankets. He took one of his favourite blankets, a nice thick black wool stuffed blanket with white pointed stars sprawled through it's design just freshly washed.
He gingerly laid it over Pili's sleeping form, tucking it in a bit, before turning back around to grab a pillow for Pili's poor poor neck.
Another favourite of his, as an apology for never coming when Pili stayed up so late just for him.
He gently tilts Pili's head up to slide the pillow under his chin, slowly lowering him down into his previous position.
With his- uh with Pili safely tucked in and comfortable, he absent mindedly patted his head, surprised when Pili leaned into the touch and even began to purr.
Lukey freezes his hand, in a crossroad of what to do. With little to none consideration he decides to do what his heart desires and slowly, as if scared, pets Pili's head. The purring only intensifies and Lukey's faced with the reality that he doesn't know what to do now. Is he just supposed to stand here? What about his own sleep schedule?
Then he glances back to his sleep corner, and comes to a truly brilliant solution.
The next morning Lukey wakes up with neither his favourite blanket, nor Pili, both having seemingly disappeared early morning, before he even woke up.
Lukey doesn't mind though, they'll both show up sooner or later either way.
Though he wishes Pili could have stayed a bit longer, if only because his purring helps him sleep better.
Maybe they'll get to have another sleepover soon. He'd like that.
He lets his eyes drift as he imagines Pili next to him, with soft fur and the quietest snore clinging to him like he's a teddy bear.
