Chapter Text
The first person she tells is Annabeth. They are 14 years old, messing around on dish duty after their bickering during capture the flag landed them there for the enth time.
“I think I’m a girl.” She doesn’t mean to say it like that, it just slips out.
Annabeth, in a rare moment of sincerity looks at her, really looks at her. “Did you mean to say that just now?”
Percy doesn’t move.
“I’m gonna go with no based on that, let's forget this ever happened until you’re ready?” Annabeth offers, gently.
Percy nods gratefully. Eager to clear the air, Annabeth launches into a rant about the shortcomings of the new camp director, and how things would be much better if they just let her be in charge. They fall into an easy conversation again, pausing occasionally to flick water at each other. They don’t mention it again.
