Glinda was quite annoyed. “Honestly, Elphie, I don’t know why everyone says witch like it’s a bad word.”
“Because,” Elphaba deadpanned, “historically it meant ‘woman with power and opinions.’ Horrifying!”
Glinda gasped. “Well then I’ve been a witch for years.”
Elphaba snorted, but Glinda continued. “Besides, if people met us, they’d realize witches are kind, brilliant, and downright fashionable!”
“Well, you’re fashionable.” .’”
“Oh, stop!” Glinda shrugged. “You’ve come a long way under my tutelage. Besides, black is the new pink!”
Elpahba shrugged, “Personally, I still aim for comfort.”
Glinda winced. “Another thing about witches – our work is never done!”
