Player's time.

Summary:

With traveling so much, you'd assume Carmen always has to change her watch time. But she actually just left it on Player's time zone.

Work Text:

With Carmen traveling so much all around the world. Almost never staying in one place for long- At least until they
got their headquarters of course.

The entirety of Team Red all ended up dealing with a whole lot of jetlag all the time. Since they were in so many different time zones in just a few days most weeks.

Not that staying in one place made much of a difference, as they also stayed up to unforgiving hours regardless of where they were that week too.

And while most phones automictically change their set time and date with the change of location. Their watches do not.

So with every new place they go, they'd have to reset the time themselves if they wanted to use them. And while most of the team didn't actually wear watches all that much, so it doesn't matter too much.

Every so often they used watches in case of EMPs. So they could still know how long it'd been on a caper. As a mechanical watch would be unaffected. Not that it mattered to know the time most capers. But Zack and Ivy specifically preferred to still know what time it was, especially if they were out for very long.

And so with that, came the annoyance of repeatedly resetting the clocks. Which brought on the complaining.

More so from Zack then anyone else though.

"Here we go again with resetting theses again." Zack sighs as he change the watch. "Why can't every place just have the same set time!"

"Wouldn't it be confusing not having it align with the sun though? Imagine having sunlight out and it's 4 am!" Player points out through the phone.

"I guess so..."

"I can understand where bro's coming from though, my watch isn't easy to move with theses buttons." Ivy points out in dismay.

"Exactly sis! They're way too small!" Zack agrees.

"Maybe we should just get you two better watches." Carmen points out in amusement.

"Now that we're talking about it..." Ivy raised a brow towards Carmen. "I've never seen you change your watch time before."

"Hey yeah!" Zack exclaimed in agreement. "Do you only set it in the shadows or something?"

Carmen chuckles. "No nothing like that." She waves it off. "I just don't reset it."

Shadowsan hummed. "It does seems rather a waste of time."

It was really-

"Pun intended?" Zack asks. And Shadowsan just eyed him.

She doesn't use it for capers. So the only time she'd even consider changing it was when they were all back at headquarters for a long period. But even then it was pointless, as she'd have her phone, and all the clocks within the building were all set to local time too.

"If you don't reset it, why bother wearing it all the time then?" Ivy questions. "Doesn't it get annoying to wear?"

"Not really. Though maybe I'm just used to it." Carmen just smiles. "But I like knowing what time it is for Player. And it's much easier to have it set to his time zone, then always keeping track of the time myself. Since sometimes we're hours ahead of him, while others we're behind."

The siblings eyes widened in surprise. While more something to understanding came over Shadowsan's expression.

"Oh wow- Really?" Player said in his own surprise, and awe. "You still have it set to that? I assumed you reset it after all this time."

She had originally set the watch to that time more for fun. As since they were always so far apart in the literal sense, it was a way to feel closer in a way. They both thought it was a bit silly, but it was really nice too. She'll never forget how Player face lit up when she first told him she set it to his time.

But as time gone on she also realized just how late it truly was for him on some capers, And just in general depending on where the rest of the team was. And while they couldn't change what time it was. She tries to be more mindful of it now.

So if was really late there and they didn't have any real pressing matters going on. She tried not to bother him. Hoping he'll actually be getting a good night rest for once. Though it was hard to say whether or not that was the case without activity contacting him.

"I've never had a reason to change it." Carmen states, as it's the truth. "I probably wouldn't even wear it if I didn't like knowing your time. I usually have easy access to clocks with the local time."

She had thought about just putting the time on her phone along with the local time zone. But she always felt like losing her phone was more likely then losing a watch would be. Since the watch is wrapped around her wrist. While a phone could fall out of one pocket if not careful.

Technically even having a watch with his time was probably not the best idea. As VILE could possibly think it was the time zone of a ally and or friend. But it could just as easily be the time zone of some random irrelevant place too. Since she's always traveling. And everyone knows that.

And it wasn't like she plans to lose either item regardless.

"What time is it for you right now anyway Player?" Zack asks in curiosity, trying to look over at Carmen's watch.

"I'm only telling you if none of you start saying I should go to bed or something. There's no way I'm leaving you to deal with this caper without me."

"That bad huh?" Ivy now questions in slight concern.

"No not really." He waves off easily. "But It's still late enough that I'd rather none of you worry over it."

"It's half past midnight." Carmen now declared herself. Not too late thank goodness. Although considering the fact that they were only just about to go on this next caper, it didn't mean much really.

"I'll be fine." Player reassures before any of them could even think to reply. "It's not like none of you never had really bad jetlag while out on the field."

That was true... Still, he was also much younger then them too. It was so easy to forget that while working on all the capers so much.

"You should at least get some good sleep after this trip is over." Carmen notes.

He just chuckles, and she could almost hear his eye roll even without the phone screen being on. "Alright I'll try. But I can't make any promises."

"Good enough." She muses. As the whole team has a bit of a problem with insomnia because of their sleep schedule. Or more so their lack thereof.

"But you better get some rest yourself Red. Seriously." That last word was calling her a workaholic more then just truly saying it did.

She now laughs. "Alright, Alright. That's fair."

Still, there was work to be done right now.

So standing from the chair, she now raised a brow to the others. "Ready everyone?"

"You know it!" "Absolutely!" The siblings declared, as Shadowsan nodded.

"Be careful out there." Player said in encouragement.

"You too." Carmen returned.

Before they headed off.
