"Can you help me reach, please, mein Schatz?"
The stepping stool was objectively high enough for Seb to reach the top of the tree if he so decided to reach. But Sebastian Vettel-Räikkönen had married a strong man all but obsessed with him for many reasons, and if he was to exploit the fact Kimi Räikkönen-Vettel was very much obnubilated by his everything, then so be it! Truth be told, it was only part of the implicit deal of marriage they had kissed over, exploiting the fact each were head over heels for the other was only natural within moderation. Kimi was more than aware he held the exact same powers over his lover.
Which was probably why he couldn't help but nuzzle into the crook of Sebastian's neck, point of his nose trailing the freshly shaven expanse of smooth skin. Thoroughly muscled arms wrapped around Seb's waist, denting the healthy layer of fat covering his stomach.
"Schatzi," Seb's voice was caught in the crossection between speech and a breathless chuckle, "that won't get the star anywhere to the top of the baby's tree, you know?"
Kimi grumbled something untintelligble, the sigh tickling Seb's ear as the sound vibrated against his torso. But next thing he knew, his feet had left the ground, and a irridescent glass star twinkled at the top of their freshly decorated tree. His freshly decorated tree.
Seb's feet hit the ground, he started taking a step back, fully expecting liberty of movement. Something he should have thought better of as one of his lover's arms wrapped around his legs. With a gulp fast turned to laughter, Sebastian was now sideways, practically curled into Kimi's chest as the older spun him around the room.
"He's a bit overgrown to still be a baby, no?"
The spinning stopped, electric blues boring into stormy greys for a split second before Sebastian leaned in. Kimi's lips felt like coming home to a well loved leather armchair by a fireplace after a snowy day, Kimi's kisses tasted like the soothing balm of hot chocolate warming you to your marrow after braving the cold, Kimi's love felt like one which couldn't be described by the author of your favourite book devoured by the open flame.
No matter how brief it was, kissing Kimi was Sebastian's Heimat, the very fire kindled by the hearth nestled in his heart. And Sebastian simply couldn't picture a life in which Kimi wasn't the beloved supporting character.
A hand raked through his hair, warm and familiar, "your head is busy."
Kimi wasn't a man of many questions. Kimi noticed something, and either spoke up or kept it stored away for later reference, thus was the way of Sebastian's husband. Seb loved it. There was no need for additional words, no need for tiptoeing or over the top artifice when one's heart belonged to Kimi Räikkönen. Everything could be sorted with three words, a grunt or minutes, sometimes hours, of silence. It was fruitless to run from your own thoughts when Kimi could guide you through any dilemma with simple additions in guise of rationality, no problem could ever seem insurmountable with the Finn by one's side. Thus was the beauty of loving Kimi Räikkönen.
"Do you think he'll like it?" Sebastian surprised himself with his honesty, "I mean, we are putting so much effort into this place in the hopes he can feel comfortable here, but I can't help but wonder if he'll actually like it."
Silence, offset by the thousand words formulated from the way Kimi's hand pulled Seb's head closer. One pass of a thumb. Then a second. The third came with five single words, a simple question ushered from barely parted lips, "that's not all, is it?"
The room was near quiet when a choked sound, partway between a laugh and a sob escaped his lips, a faux-harmony to the light lilt of Christmas Lights hanging in the atmosphere. Seb's voice was brimming with love, a stain of incredulity and wetness filling it as he responded, "you always know, don't you?"
He was met with a shrug, a silent offer to carry on.
"It's just, I don't want him to see this and not be comfortable with telling us he wants something else, you know? It's gonna be a stressful time for him and I want him to be in a place he can look forward to going to if it gets too much for him. I don't want him to find himself prisoner when we are meant to make him the happiest he can be, you know?"
Kimi's lips brushed Seb's forehead, a silent promise, "he'll be fine, Sebi, just the fact you worry about this is proof of the fact."
"I hope you're right," Sebastian finally allowed himself to melt into Kimi's welcoming arms, every atom of his body linking covalently with the welcoming nucleus of Kimi's, "I just, the doubts, you know? They never rest do they?"
A step back, a hand wrapping around his own, another trailing down to his waist. Kimi began to sway, Seb's move responding like a tranquil wave pulled by the tide, their bodies leisurely pacing the room, avoiding every obstacle in the shape of furniture they'd spent the past week putting up, "they'll only ever rest as much as you allow yourself to not think. But I'm here," a soft press of lips against Seb's own, "and I'll do my best to fight them away with you."

"So I have to let you know that despite being well behaved, he has been having a few troubles at school, notably the fact he threw his literacy book to the ground during class after claiming the words were dancing. It's nothing out of the ordinary for children in his situation, but it may be a good idea to look into it further if it keeps happening."
Jenson Button was a kind man, doted with that natural charisma that could have him fit in anywhere he so pleased; Sebastian would have been no more surprised to see his face plastered across billboards as he would seeing him working at some go kart rental place. But all that truly mattered was the fact he was a phenomenal social worker, and that no matter his charm, he had done beyond incredible with his current case.
The man lead Seb and Kimi to a bedroom, more like a dormitory. The walls down the corridor were off-white, but decorated with hundreds of crayon drawings, all obviously stemming from the hand of countless children. Children who'd seen grief, horror, and pain up close, children who'd desperately needed a second chance, children one of which would have the pleasure of being welcomed into a loving family, who would never have to face the cold bitterness of the world on their lonesome every again.
Jenson knocked at the door. Quiet. The the distinct sound of little legs shuffling to a door. Sebastian held his breath, hand reaching for Kimi's already awaiting one. Wide blue eyes peered at them through unruly brown curls, uneaven teeth peaking through lips slightly ajar, a picture perfect scenery of childish wonder.
Seb kneeled before the child, smiling at him as he held out his hand, "merry Christmas, Lando."
