Chapter Text
The halls were brightly lit from the sun that shined through the giant windows. Corvin, an exorcist angel, walked through the corridors, passing by a couple of his sisters as he did. They would nod to him or look at his appearance and make a small face, but never did they say anything. He had just finished giving himself a haircut and cutting off all the long skirt pieces to his uniform when Adam had called him to his office. So he was looking a tad bit unprepared.
When he came upon his leader’s office, he took a deep breath and folded his wings back. Talking to Adam was always such a chore, especially now that he was extra busy with the extermination coming up in about two months. Adam barely listened to anything people would tell him. Him being extra busy just gave him an excuse to not pay attention.
“Sir? You called for me?” Corvin announced as he entered the large office. Adam was sitting on his chair with his feet resting on top of the desk while he tuned his guitar.
“Yeah, wanna take a guess as to why I did?” Adam asked. Corvin gulped and shut the door behind him as he walked closer.
“Holy shit, what did you do to your fucking hair?! And your uniform?!” The first man berated once he saw him. He was absolutely flabbergasted at what Corvin had done.
“I cut them, sir. They were getting in the way of my training,” Corvin said, the yell making him nervous.
Adam wasn’t the most calm when it came to things that were stressful. He’d take his stress and anger out on his soldiers or, as Sera encouraged, through his music.
“Like hell they were. I’m getting really tired of this cry for attention, Canary,” He told him. Corvin cringed at that name. Adam was the one that gave him it. A girl’s name.
“It’s not a cry for attention, sir. I am a bo-”
“I don’t want to hear it, bitch,” Adam shut him up, “Now, care to tell me why you’ve been acting out? Your sisters are telling me you’ve been asking to be called “Corvin”. Is that right?”
“Y-yes sir,” Corvin said, his stance tense as he could hear his heart beat fast in his ears.
“Not only that but you’ve been trying to talk to the Seraphim about this shit,” He stood up from his seat, “Do you want to make me look bad?”
“No, sir,”
“Then this is your last warning. One more act of treason and you’ll be cast out to hell just like Vagie and Lucifer,” Adam declared. There was a moment of silence, Corvin didn’t dare to say anything.
“Do I make myself clear?” He reiterated, waiting for an answer. However, Corvin didn’t say anything.
“No,” Corvin suddenly spoke.
“Excuse me?”
“I won’t stop. This is who I am, Adam. I don’t care what the bible says. I’ve asked and Heaven doesn’t know if this shit is a sin or not. So unless I hear it from God himself that it is, then I will continue to live my days as Corvin. And If it is a sin, then I guess you’re losing a soldier,” Corvin declared.
The office filled with silence after his outburst. Adam sighed, a hint of anger and disappointment in his tone before he grabbed his guitar.
“I warned you,”
Suddenly, he strung a chord and a flash of light came rushing towards Corvin’s eye. From the countless training and abuse he withstood from being in the army, his reflexes were swift. Quickly, Corvin moved his head away, but wasn’t fast enough. The golden light skimmed across his cheek before colliding with the outer skin of his ear. With the loud noise it made on impact and the pressure of the blast being right next to it, his ear drum exploded. Warm golden ichor came pouring from his ear as his left side lost its hearing. But he didn’t dwell on it for long. He had to get out of there before Adam took anything else from him.
Corvin ran out the door with the first man following close behind him. He dodged a couple more blasts from his guitar. He would’ve at least tried to fight him off if he had his sabre with him. But unfortunately, he left it in his dorm room.
Corvin was a way faster runner and flyer than Adam was. He managed to get far ahead of him, pushing past his fellow sisters. Just as he thought he had outran him, a sudden portal to hell appeared in front of him. He forgot Adam’s magic had such a wide range. The appearance of the portal startled him and made him trip over his feet. He started to fall through, the overbearing warmth of Hell suddenly engulfing him.
The fall had been rough. Luckily he wasn’t too far from the ground, but it would still be quite painful if he hit hell’s floor from this height. He tried to use his wings to slow his fall and make it a bit less painful when he eventually hit the ground.
After almost breaking his ribs on a fire escape, he tumbled farther down until he hit the dirty floor. He looked up and saw the portal begin to close. But he made no move to try and go back. This would be his home now. If heaven wouldn’t accept him, then he wanted nothing to do with them.
Many times, Heaven had caused him pain and suffering. From the countless abuse he took to the agonizing training. Even during Exterminations, Corvin wondered if it was better to just stay down in hell and never return to the barracks. But then he’d see the horrified faces of the sinners he killed and make sure that it would never become him.
It would take a while to get used to hell and its culture, but Corvin was gonna figure it out.
