Boyfriend texts

I sat in my room after school savoring the calm evening, I was enjoying the mood lighting Annalise set up for me while working on some of my missing assignments when my phone buzzed.
It was a text from Mason, a song link, Never Tear Us Apart, by Paloma Faith. I smiled because I already knew the song, and I was sure that he meant he was thinking of us. I opened the link and put it on, he was sweet, it was a perfect song for us.

I'm not as sweet as him though and I couldn't help ruining the moment by texting back a link to a song from the same album, Just Be. I put my phone down smirking in anticipation of his answer.
It was still a cute song to send your boyfriend just a bit melancholy and coming from me to Mason it felt a little cheeky. I hoped it would annoy him slightly, he never liked it when I tried to dampen his oh so frequent good mood.
The lines that stuck out to me were,

I was surprised when my phone buzzed again in less than a minute. I picked it up and saw another song link from Mason again from the same album, it was, Blood Sweat And Tears. I knew the album well but it had been awhile so I decided to put the song on before responding and scrolled through the lyrics.
