Work Text:
I pushed my curly hair out of my eyes during breakfast. Alex was sitting next to me, his hair still a mess from last night. I was still worried; however, I didn’t let John or Herc see, me and Alex agreed they wouldn’t find out. I wouldn’t break it.
“I have an idea, what if we all went on a date together to the movies? It’s been a while since we were able to go on a date all four of us,” John said, his hair was in a ponytail.
I could guess he picked up on what happened last night, Herc probably knew as well, he hadn’t woken up screaming like he used to, but he did move a lot when he was one, which was once a week at the
least. We have suggested therapy, but when he almost had a panic attack, we crossed it off. We cared of him, but he should really get professional help. And we do not help.
“It could be fun, but let's make it a happy movie, we have all had a somewhat hard week,” his gaze lingered just slightly on Alex, my dear Amour, he looked down when he looked up at the silence, focusing on his plate.
“Yeah of course, I heard there is a new movie out about a girl and stuff,” responded Alex, his posture fixing itself.
“Okay, so movie date today? Sweet, what time?” I asked, taking my plate out to the kitchen.
“I can go book the tickets, I’ll aim for the later tickets though,” Alex said, the bags under his eyes no longer easy to miss.
“Alright, darling my card should be hooked up to the computer.” Herc said, watching as he leaves the room, and that is when he put his attention onto me, “Want to tell us what happened yesterday at 3:40 AM?”
I froze, my heart plummeting in my chest, “He just had a bad nightmare,” I responded, not far from the truth, but they wouldn’t know what the truth was, I would die before they did.
“I feel like it was more than that though,” John said, joining us in the kitchen, his hair now out of the ponytail.
“I’m not telling you guys, he can,” I said, my voice eerily calm. My voice sounding French which made sense because of my heritage.
“Alright, that is fine but tell him he can wake us up if he needs us, his sleep schedule is getting worse, I worry he could have insomnia,” Hercules said, his voice only having he deepest of care in it.
“I know, it is a work in progress, convincing him to go a therapist I mean,” I breathed, leaning into his chest, John coming around my back and hugging me.
Around thirty minutes later we can hear Alex yell the tickets are booked for 5:00 PM, the movie would end about 7:00 PM, two hours of a girl arguing with other girls, yes, we are going to watch Mean Girls.
“What time should we leave? How about 4:00 we get there about 40 minutes early,” John said, coming in with Alex, his arm wrapped around his waist as they sit down.
“Sure, we are getting food so it could be about the same amount of time to get food and into the move theater as when it starts,” Herc said, his arm wrapped around my shoulders.
Go time is actually about 3:50, you can blame Alex he was paranoid after having a small nap. Maybe it was the small gaze from Hercules that made him look at me unsure.
When we got into the theater the place was decorated for the occasion, mean girls was having an anniversary so it was pretty busy. When we walked into the actual move theater we sat in our seats, pretty good seats, John was next to Alex who was on the isle, and Hercules who was next to me. The movie started quickly after we sat down, and it only felt like a few minutes before we were getting close to the bus scene, it was my favorite scene. I looked over at Alex and John, Alex was leaning on him, his arm rested in between his legs.
Finally, we got to the bus scene, when she was run over, I had to suppress a laugh.
When we walked out of our movie, it was quiet, we had the last movie and not many people were there still, John was leaning against leaning against me, Amour was leaning against Hercules, his hand grasping mine. I smiled as we filed into the car. “This may sound bad, but it was so hard not to laugh at the bus scene,” John said, a small bit of happiness in his eyes.
“Thank you! I have been telling people this for years,” I responded, a small smile lifting up the corners of my mouth.
A small laughter peeled out of Herc, tears forming just slightly, I leaned onto him, “This has been really fun, we should go on dates more often you know?” I said, as we pulled into the driveway.
“It is really hard to go on dates because of my school schedule and you guys have work,” Amour said, his voice careful with every word he said.
“Amour, are you alright? You seem off,” I said, a small hand grasped mine as we walked into the room, the grip was hard, especially for someone that short.
“I’m tired, I can’t sleep though,” He murmured tears forming in his eyes as he crashed into me.
“Do you want to cuddle as you try? Because I can do that,” I offered, when I saw his face I froze, tears covered his cheeks.
“Yes and no, I don’t want to sleep but I want to just lay with you in silence,” He murmured, moving into the warmth of my hand when I grabbed his face to take of his tears.
“Come on, Amour,” I whispered, taking him to our shared bed.
We laid down, his face against my waistband, “Night Laf,” He breathed, dozing off despite what he wanted.
“Night Amour.”
