Chapter Text

That night, Robbie couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned in bed, unable to find peace. He stared at the ceiling, helpless.

He didn't know what to do.

The room was shrouded in darkness. The window offered a glimpse of a starry but cloudy night, with a timid moon peeking out in the winter sky. He was freezing from the cold, even though the heater in his and Oscar's room tried to warm them up.

Being careful not to make too much noise, Robbie leaned out of bed to check on Oscar.

His features were relaxed and at ease. Sleep further sweetened his face as beautiful as a poem, softened his lips, and lengthened his eyelashes.

"He sleeps like a child", he thought. He couldn't help but smile at the sight of his beloved asleep.

At that point, he slowly got out of bed.

It was clear that he wouldn't sleep that night.

Once on the ground, he took some soft steps towards the desk in front of the window to read a bit.

But as soon as he reached for a lantern to begin reading, he looked up at the window and...

An enthusiastic expression appeared on his face.

It was snowing.

His heart began to pound wildly in his chest, as if it wanted to break free from its prison of flesh and bone and take to the skies.

He had always loved snow since he was a child. He fondly remembered the days when, during Christmas break, he would go out with his mother to build snowmen in their backyard.

So, he really couldn't resist.

He ran to Oscar and called him in a whisper to wake him up, shaking him gently by the shoulders.

"OSCAR! OSCAR, WAKE UP!"

After a few attempts, the boy opened his eyes, confused and numb from sleep, his head light.

"Robbie... What's wrong?..." he stammered, his lips clumsily stumbling over the words.

"Oscar! It's snowing outside!" he replied, overjoyed.

"So?" Oscar insisted, turning over and trying to go back to sleep.

"Let's go out," the boy proposed. "Come on. No one will find out."

Oscar was about to say that it was cold and he just wanted to sleep, but he opened his eyes and all he could see were Robbie's sparkling eyes, shining with almost childlike excitement, and his sweet smile.

The same smile that alone could have brightened up the whole college and its long, dull, grey faces.

He couldn't say no to him.
