Chapter Text
Camping; a fun, easy experience for everyone to enjoy, right?
Wrong.
The sun had just finished setting and Heart was already colder than his idea of the pits of hell.
“Seventy degrees my ass…” Heart grumbled tiredly, his wings feeling like they were about to fall off. It was times like this where Heart wishes he were more bug than bird, so he could at least shake his wings really hard or something so they’d get warm. But of course, there was nothing he could do at the moment that wouldn’t be insanely loud or disruptive.
Heart was trying to hold himself together to keep from embarrassing himself or something, but knowing his luck, he wouldn’t last much longer. Thankfully though, the others seemed to be asleep already.
A bit desperately, Heart glanced around for any source of warmth. Not even a second had passed before his glance settled on a faint blue glow. Now sure, blue itself isn’t warm, but light usually is. It wasn’t until Heart started crawling towards the light that he realized where it was coming from.
Mind…
Ew…
Eh…?
Well, surely he wouldn’t mind (see what I did there), it’s not like he was even awake…
Heart crawled over and carefully moved his hand towards Mind, feeling the heat radiating off of him before even having to get close. Carefully, Heart let himself rest against the ground and quietly shuffled closer, his movements slightly resembling those of a worm. After a few seconds, he finally made contact with mind, his hand ending up resting against Mind’s waist. Heart had always assumed that he’d be really cold, but he was surprisingly the opposite.
Then, Heart realized.
This guy didn’t have a shirt on.
“It’s literally so cold, why on earth would he be sleeping without a shirt on?” Heart thought to himself, his brows furrowing slightly. He sighed softly and reluctantly snuggled a bit closer, his face making contact with Mind’s chest. God, was he warm… Heart, not even thinking, instinctively placed a soft kiss against Mind’s skin, shifting his hand from his waist to his chest, gently running his thumb over the spot he had kissed. Right afterward, he shrank back in disgust, horrified at what he had just done.
He frowned and roughly wiped off his mouth, glaring up at Mind, sleeping, quiet for once.
Then he kissed him again.
He knew it was weird, and probably wrong, but something about getting to connect with somebody, even if just by a simple kiss against skin not even near the mouth, felt so… warm. Beautiful, even.
Heart was horrified that he could think anything positive about this. Hopefully though, he wouldn’t have to think about it at all soon. After a slight huff, a scowl even, Heart let his eyes close and allowed himself to drift off to sleep.
