In Meereen, Tyrion Lannister learns quickly that allies are a rarer coin than wine fit to drink. Among the freedmen, killers, and counterfeit loyalists, one woman stands apart—Ahrylea, a silver-tongued orator whose talents are for sale to any cause ruthless enough to employ her. Slavers, Sons of the Harpy, fleeting regimes—she has argued for them all, slipping through Essos like smoke: uncatchable, unreliable, indispensable.
