Work Text:
Saedie was taking a run around the camp. As she rounded the last tent in the Western corner, a foot appeared from behind it. Too late for her to stop, she ran right into it, stumbling into Motthew's smaller form as he caught her.
"RANDOM ACT OF RUDENESS!" he shouted, as he righted her and strode off.
Cricket relaxed into the bathing hole that Siggy had dug for him. The water, warmed and scented lavender by Willow, was soothing his drying skin. He closed his eyes and leaned his head back against the dirt wall. He heard the foot falls approaching, assuming it was Willow. That is, until a clump of dirt hit him straight on the face.
"RANDOM ACT OF RUDENESS!" shouted Motthew as he darted away.
Siggy had just come up with the perfect line for the ballad he'd been working on about Babs and Alvie's love story. He was excitedly writing it in his journal as a shadow covered the parchment. Looking up, he yelped and ducked as the bowl of stew was dumped in front of him, just barely getting his journal out of the splash zone in time.
"RANDOM ACT OF RUDENESS!" Motthew's voice was becoming grating.
Toni was sorting carefully through her spell components. She'd divided the gemstones and diamond dust into pouches so they'd be ready for each spell as they were cast. She counted them out so she knew how many castings she had of each spell available to her. As she arranged the piles, a hand reached down, grabbing a pouch and upending it onto the mat in front of her. Irritated, she looked up in time to see Motthew stand up from his crouch.
"RANDOM ACT OF RUDENESS!" he screamed in her face before turning and marching away.
The Dawn Takers approached Nakani together, hoping a united front would bolster their case.
"It's got to stop Nakani. He's become unbearable," Willow was saying.
Nakani nodded her head in acknowledgement. "I know. He does this sometimes, says it's a cultural thing? Some kind of holiday for his people. Festivus, or something. It'll be over soon, it only lasts a few days."
In the end, the Dawn Takers agreed to give it one more day before they'd take drastic action.
