Finally,

After about two weeks, he finally escaped. After making sure that the other escaped safely, Wemmbu ran, and he ran hundreds of blocks to a set of coordinates a certain voidling had messaged him just a few hours ago.

Don't get him wrong, it's not like he wanted to do this. But he was a man of his word, and Spoke was his brother. Even if they didn't get along at all most of the time, they were still family.

He couldn't really complain because Spoke did get him out of the prison, along with the other criminals in there, maybe they could meet again. A real shame Lomedy didn't want to come with them, the guy was a sucker for the rules anyways.

Wemmbu froze in his tracks, panting as the exhaustion from the lack of sleep and water was finally getting to him. Lomedy just wanted a normal life, just like him. He shook his head, Spoke was waiting for him.

So he started running again, the terrain and biomes changed as he traveled through them. He runs because he knows he cannot hide, not from Spoke. Besides, it couldn't be that bad, right?

He wished he could fly but his wings were messed up from the weeks in the prison not taking care of them and from the last battle that set him free.

The night sky was clear with no clouds in sight, the moon shone bright, showing him the path to a humble cottage in the middle of a spruce forest. For him it was clear who lived there, if it wasn't already obvious by the dozens of rainbow flowers surrounding the small house.

As he neared his nerves, sky rocketed, his hand shook as he reached to knock on the door.  Before he could do it, the door opened, startling him and revealing the voidling on the other side.

Spoke paused for a moment and admired the other hybrid on the other side of the door. Wemmbu was still wearing his prison uniform but now it was more messy and dirty. His hair was cut short clumsily but somehow it did fit him, specially with his symbolical tiara.

A grin overtook Spokes face, the other was clearly ecstatic at having Wemmbu on his side, "Wemmbu! I was wondering when you were going to show up!" He stepped aside to guide the purple demon to the inside, since there was no other option, Wemmbu soon went in and found his place on a small sofa near the fireplace.

The warmth of the fire grasped his figure like a blanket helping him relax, if only a little in this strange and new place.

"I guess I had nothing to lose." Wemmbu said voice tight, and put his hands on his head, his body tensed as Spoke got closer. The voidling was not trustworthy but neither was Wemmbu so he didn't say anything.

If the other noticed he didn't say anything, the voidling placed his hands on his shoulders. Their eyes met. "Dude, Wemmbu you should be more excited man! We are finally going to be working together."

Wemmbu sighed, "I guess we are... Do you have any food, Spoke? The prison bread was terrible."

"Of course I do! Do you prefer steak or golden carrots" a simple question really but it took a moment for Wemmbu to find his voice. "Uhhh, ill take the carrots please," Wemmbu responded, "and uhhh, do you have a spare enderchest?"

"All in due time, my dear Wemmbu" Spoke retorted, handing him a stack of carrots. And sitting down on the couch in front of him. "Get comfortable, after all we are going to be spending so much time together!"

Once Wemmbu got the carrots he immediately started to munch on some, it wasn't like he was starving but the only thing left to eat that he had were golden apples and those were sickenly sweet like instant health potions.

He didn't really get on well with Spoke but that could change in the future, now that they were working together specially.

And besides, working with spoke couldn't be that bad. And Wemmbu was not that wasteful, he only really needed company, he hated being alone.

He wouldn't be able to handle being alone again, sure he had Egg but he didn't want to involve the angel in another mess, he cared a lot about his best friend.

"hey, Spoke?" The other hummed, searching inside of his enderchest. "At the prison when you first showed up..." He said, tilting his head, " remember what you said to me?"

"Yes, why?"

"You said that you needed me for the orbital strike cannons, you know i dont have them anymore right? Like why did you even help me last time or why did you agree to help the other too?-"

Spoke interrumped him, "What are you getting at Wemmbu?" His usual demeanor gone, he was serious as he examined him like he already knew what he was going to say.

The intensity of his gaze made Wemmbu shiver, it felt like the other was looking into his own soul and getting every single bit of information out of him. It seemed like he would be with the voidling for a while and he needed to understand what the other wanted out of him, he couldn't handle being thrown away again.

Wemmbu breathed out confused and annoyed, "What do you need me for?" Spoke maintained silence, "what do i need to do for you?"

Seeing Spoke confusion, he rephrased the question again, embarrassed at what he was going to admit. "How can I be useful?"

The voidling giggled at him, making him pout which only made the other laugh harder. "Wemmbu, you can be useful in other ways." Spoke said in an open and honest, "Sure you don't have what I need but we can figure out some other way to do what I have in mind."

"Really?" Wemmbu questioned, as if sensing his inner turmoil Spoke continued, "Yup, I mean, you are resourceful, reliable and highly efficient." Wemmbu's eyes widened and his face flushed in embarrassment. This was weird for him, he was not used to talking about feelings. "And that's not the best part bro! You are so funny to be around, how could anyone not want you on their side!"

"I guess I'm a little too needy..." A soft whisper only available for trained ears. His eyes dropped, avoiding eye contact.

"Needy? How?"

"I am too clingy and attention seeking aparently." Wemmbu shrugged, this kind of thing didn't really affect him as much before.

Spoke breathed out in relief, "Wemmbu bro, you don't have to worry about that!" The mentioned one looked up to see Spoke sat upside down on the couch as he continued talking, "I thought it was about how you didn't feel comfortable here."

"Uhhhh" wemmbu stammered.

Spoke spun to be sitting the right way and deadpanned, "what can i do to make you feel more comfortable?"

"I thought you wouldnt care about how I'm feeling" the purple demon said confused, voice small and pained.

"Wemmbu." The voidling began, "you are my teammate now, of course I'm going to care about how you feel, bro!" Spoke smiled at him.

Wemmbu returned him a small soft smile, an honest one.

He kinda knew where Spokes request was headed, but not what it was exactly. He just wanted to make sure he wasn't treated as a weapon, and when Spoke said he was going to be a teammate he was pleasantly surprised, if he had to be honest he imagined this whole thing to be more like the relationship he had with Zam on the Zam empire, they had mostly made up now.

A faint little rumbling sound rang out in the room, Spoke perked up and looked around the little room. His eyes landed on Wemmbu, and another smile formed so wide it reached his eyes.

"You know Wemmbu, I thought you would be a lot more cautious and wary of being with me."

"Yeah, well you are my brother, no?"

Spoke contemplated for a moment as Wemmbu got up and sat next to him, spreading his wings. The voidling froze for a moment flabbergasted by the show of trust the purple demon had on him.

He smiled softly reaching out to the messed up wings, ready for a lengthy prenning session.

His fingers threaded through the matted purple feathers. These wings, once bright, majestic and powerful used for Wemmbu's signature move, the elytra macing, were now tattered and weak.

After a long while, the wings were fully preaned and neat. It would take a while but he would definitely fly again, just like his brother needed.

Wemmbu relaxed against Spokes chest, this wouldn't be so bad.

For now both brothers stayed in each other's embraces, cozy in their own little world. Surrounded by a calm and peaceful silence, along with pleasant and snug warmth from the fireplace.

Tomorrow will be a different day, and they will be fighting and traveling again, they will be worrying again. But just for this moment, for this little while they could pretend they were normal players.

Spoke!!!
