Kagome walked with her adopted kit, Shippo, in her arms. She never officially adopted Shippo, at least not yet, because Inuyasha wouldn't allow it. But that didn't matter now, for Kagome had left Inuyasha and the others. She knew it most likely wouldn't be the best idea, but she wouldn't take it anymore. She was tired of being second place to a clay pot and her kit being treated badly by Inuyasha.
Kagome holds Shippo close. "Shippo, know that we are not with the others. How do I officially adopt you by Yoki and not just by human means?"
Shippo looked up at her with bright, happy eyes. "We go to the Kitsune council, and I tell them you adopt me. That you've taught me just as well as my Kitsune papa did and that you're the best mama! They gave you a test on all you know about Kitsune, and if you get a good enough score, they make the adoption official, and they give you a book on more of the info you need!" Shippo explained happily with a chirp.
Kagome nodded slowly. "Okay, where is this council located? We do that first if we don't run into shards in the process." Kagome said and listened closely as Shippo gave her the info and followed it.

Kagome stretched; she had passed the test with the highest score a non-kitsune had ever gotten. She was also the only miko to ever take the test. Shippo was spending time with other kitsune his age, as Kagome read over the book on kitsune stuff she hadn't known before. She looked up and over at the sounds of footsteps to see Lord Sesshōmaru walking down the path. He stopped when he spotted her.
"Lord Sesshōmaru." Kagome greeted politely as she stood. "What brings you to the Kitsune council, if you don't mind me asking?" Kagome asked, tilting her head at the Lord of the West.
"This Sesshōmaru has royal business with the council." Sesshōmaru responded, and Kagome was a bit surprised that he actually responded. "What about you?" He asked, studying her, his eyes landing on the book in her hands.
"I just finished officially adopting Shippo!" Kagome couldn't stop her happy or excited squeal, though she kept it quiet for his ears, knowing his were more sensitive than Inuyasha's were.
Sesshōmaru's eyes shone with interest as he took her in. "What score did you get, Miko?" He asked for stapling closer.
"I got the highest score a non-kitsune has ever gotten!" Kagome admits it with a bright smile at the Daiyōkai.
Sesshōmaru felt a bit of shock, then shook it off. He shouldn't be supposed to be with this miko; she did her best by her kit, so it made sense she learned as much as she could to care for him properly.
"That was quite the achievement." Sesshōmaru said it because it was true; he never spoke a lie if he could help it.
Kagome's cheeks flushed softly at the praise, and this caught more of Sesshōmaru's attention. The beast in him rumbled softly about how she would be a good mother for the adopted pup, be a good alpha bitch, be a good mother of future pups, and be a good mate. Sesshōmaru paused at his beast's rumbling and had to agree. Kagome would be a perfect and ideal mate; she was different from any miko he had ever met or heard of and definitely different from any human he had met or heard of.
"Is this Kagome traveling alone with just her kit?" Sesshōmaru asked, a plan forming in his mind.
Kagome blinked and nodded. "I am, yes. I couldn't deal with your brother anymore." She admitted it, and Sesshōmaru nodded; he could understand that.
"The hanyō is foolish for losing you. Do this, Sesshōmaru, for the honor of joining his pack." Sesshōmaru said, watching her reaction closely.
Kagome blinked. "You... You want me to join your pack?" She asked slowly, shock clearly on her face.
"Yes." Sesshōmaru nodded and stepped forward, bringing his hand up to cup her face. "This Sesshōmaru wishes for you to accompany him and his pack. This Sesshōmaru will give you and your kit the protection and family they need." Sesshōmaru said softly with a gentle rumble in his chest as she leans into his touch, her cheeks flushed.
Kagome thought for a moment before she nodded. "I would like that, Lord Sesshōmaru." She said softly and squeaked quietly when he pulled her against him and started to scent her.
"Just call this Sesshōmaru, Sesshōmaru." Sesshōmaru said with more of a rumble, though it was still gentle, as he nuzzled her neck to leave his scent on her. "Let's go pick up your kit," he said softly, and all Kagome could do was blush red and nod. Much to the Daiyōkai's amusement, at his soon-to-be mate's reaction.
