Work Text:

Coat guy typically tended to stick to himself, never really interacting with the other guests in the home he was staying at. Only ever interacting with the homeowner when they were checking him for signs.

He didn’t like being the center of attention, he never had. He stayed at one spot majority of the time, shivering to himself in the middle of the couch in the living room. Despite being so distant, he yearned for some sort of connection and or affection. Though the weight of his isolation and lack of communication. He felt it was almost impossible.

It was an average night, Coat Guy heard the homeowner lock the door. Indicating that no one else was to arrive at the home for the time being. Though he noticed someone who had entered. A man with purple hair and a very bright orange hoodie around his neck. Despite Coat Guy not being able to tell all of the details about said man, he could tell one thing.

His mouth was completely wired shut.

He could see the stitches. The precise pattern that went across his mouth. Preventing him from speaking audible words. Coat Guy wondered what even happened. More importantly, why?

Once the homeowner entered his own room, the man looked for a place to reside in. Before disappearing into the closet. Coat Guy let curiosity take over his mindset, and he reluctantly followed.

It didn’t take too long for the other to notice Coat Guy. Turning around, the guy was almost startled. Coat guy was able to get a clear look at him thanks to the light of the closet. He saw the blood around his mouth due to the wired stitches being jabbed into his lips. The man was quick to try and speak

“Mppmhm mmmmphmg Mmmhhhgg!”

Coat Guy tried calming him down. He felt almost anxious to even talk to the other. He doesn’t know his name. He’ll refer to him as ‘Wireface’ for the time being. Coat Guy looked around for anything to possibly cut those nasty wires. Managing to find some scissors, Coat Guy took Wireface’s face gently and tried to keep him still.

Wireface seemed almost panicked, not knowing what Coat Guy’s intentions truly were.

Coat Guy gently put one of the blades of the scissors under one of the stitches and..

SNIP!

He did this multiple times for each individual stitch until each of them were cut. He then took the wires gently out of his lips. The other grunting in pain. After the stitches were removed, Wireface touched his lips gently. He looked up at Coat Guy and nodded while smiling.

“Gszmp blf.” (Thank you.)

Coat Guy did not understand what Wireface had said. It was clear he was not from around here and most likely spoke a different language. But he understood what Wireface was trying to get at. Coat Guy smiled back, nodding back.

“Y-you’re welcome…” Coat Guy responded while shivering. The cold always gnawed at him. He really hoped Wireface wouldn’t notice his shivering. It’s always so awkward trying to explain why he is so cold without mentioning his…secret.

Unfortunately for him, Wireface took notice of his shivering and the chattering of his teeth. He tilted his head at the shivering man Infront of him. Making a gesture to try and ask if he was cold.

“Ziv blf xlow?” (Are you cold?)

Coat Guy understood the gesture and quietly nodded. Before feeling the weight of a sweater around his shoulders. He looked down and saw the bright orange sweater that was originally around Wireface’s neck slumped over his shoulders.

Coat guy was surprised, looking back up at Wireface. He tried to gesture his gratefulness.

“T-thank you..”

The sweater wasn’t all that helpful. But it still helped. His shivering slowing a tiny bit.

“Ml kilyovn...Blf svokvw nv hl R wvxrwvw gl svok blf yzxp blf pmld?” (No problem...You helped me so I decided to help you back you know?)

Coat Guy was thankful that Wireface had acted so kindly. He wanted more warmth, but he wasn’t sure if Wireface would allow him to get closer. Coat Guy didn’t want to ruin the only chance of connection with someone. So he awkwardly scooted a tiny bit closer to indicate he wanted to sit closer to Wireface.

Wireface had caught on to the action and scooted to the side to give Coat Guy some space. Which Coat Guy quickly scooted beside him. Clutching the bright orange sweater around himself. He smiled up at Wireface

Coat Guy was delighted that he was finally able to have some kind of human interaction.

Maybe he’ll be comfortable to share the cause of his coldness and loneliness with Wireface someday.
