Work Text:

I oogled at the clock counting the ticks,
*If my shift ends at 17:30 then that means 2 minutes left, and it means that all i need is 120 seconds and one tick is one second, so all i need is count to 120.*
I thought. When i beginned my genius plan, i didn't manage to count to 10 before people started getting up, saying goodbyes and heading outside. So, naturally, i did the same only with 2 times the efficiency and speed, i promised him i will go right after my shift to him so i couldn't disappoint.
I fast walked to the accounting department, before i knocked on the door to get in i heard a voice behind my back
"Eager to see me as always huh? Hah!! Typical of you Cass!"
Here was Robert, with his defaults sickly sweet smile that gave everyone in the room he was residing diabetes and dirty blonde short-well groomed hair wearing his iconic chocolate brown suit and an white shirt under it with a tie as the cherry on top.
"I mean yeah, you said to meet up as fast as possible cause you have a 'suprise'."
I said while smooching him and slowly heading out with him outside of the workplace.
Rob's face lightened up in record timing when he heard 'suprise'.
"Ohh.. about that, well, i'll tell you in the elevator, if we're alone of course..."
The way he said it made that feel ominous, but imagining anything sad or scary go out of Robert's, THE sunshine himbo of the company seemed unrealistic and deepfaked, but the elevator was both empty and in right infront of us at the end of the hallway so i definitely didn't need to imagine for long.
He hurried while dragging me along to the elevator while looking around as if spies were around.
As the elevator closed he turned around and looked me straight in the eyes. Though he tried looking serious, he got the opposite effect.
"About that..."
" We're having a date! At my house! And we got a fifth wheel!"
Robert said while being uncomfortably close to me, even for relationship standards, it took me a while and him slowly stepping away from my personal space still violating it but to a acceptable degree for me to realise that we ARE having a fifth wheel.
"WAIT-WAITH-... You mean... A trouple?"
I said with purest form of primal fear in my voice.
"No silly! I mean you're going to meet my daughter! I already ordered a taxi to my place and told her about you."
The second Robert said that, i let out a massive sigh i kept hostage in my lungs for the longest 2 seconds of my life.
We got out of the elevator towards the exit door, after that a comfortable silence been created combined with the notion of my boyfriend's daughter has become a 5 Michelin star food for thought. Meeting his daughter was something that he would babble about for a few dates now, i never really took it much seriously since she was probably a baby and i had nothing but protectiveness and love for children, so being a step mom wouldn't be a tragic experience.
As we got out of the building, a first fresh breath of air got into my lungs after the 9-5 hell. Meanwhile waiting for the taxi, i couldn't help but ponder about her.
*Will she be like, something of a clone of her dad? Or not resembling her father at all? Or maybe she will be exactly like her mother just I will not be able to tell since i've never seen Rob's ex girlfriend.*
...

"Hey Rob."
"Yes?"
"What is her name? I mean- your daughters?"
He smiled, not the usual sweet smile but a happy one, seemingly very endeared by me being interested in his only child
"Festus, her name is Festus, but she rathers when everyone calls her Fest"
*So Festus...
That's....
Such an idiotic name, but i guess children don't pick their parents, but for now, im smarter than judging the book by the cover.*
