Watatsumi Island was hosting a grand feast to celebrate Divine Priestess Kokomi's birthday, so the Arataki Gang essentially decided to crash it. After all, he wasn't about to turn down an opportunity to stuff his face with free food!
What he didn't know was that there was a fee required to enter the feast. It was absurdly expensive and Itto didn't have that kind of money; Shinobu wasn't about to blow her Mora so Itto could eat like a pig either.
Jealous of those who could afford the feast and desperately craving royal food, Itto and his gang banged on the gates that prevented them from entering, hollering obnoxiously. One of them even tried jumping the fence, but he ended up missing and banging his knees into it, causing a loud noise to alert those who were feasting.
"What's going on here?" General Gorou peeked out from the gate, a plate of food in hand.
Itto perked up at the familiar voice. "Puppy! It's you!" he exclaimed. Gorou flushed like he always did whenever Itto called him that horrendous nickname.
"What you are you doing, trying to disrupt Priestess Kokomi's feast?" Gorou said firmly.
Itto raised his arms in surrender. "Ay man, we don't want any trouble, we just want in on the food!"
"You know if you want to partake in our feast you have to pay the fee. I believe multiple guards have already informed you, Itto."
The big man's eyes lit up, an idea coming to him. "I've got an even better deal."
"And what's that?"
"You let us in on your fancy feast," Itto smirked. "and you get the privilege of making out with me."
Gorou sputtered in surprise, his face flushing an impossible red as he let inappropriate images in his mind take over.
He shook his head, trying to relieve himself of some of the embarrassment. "W-What are you talking about, you... oh, for Archon's sake..." Gorou sighed, resigned. "If I give you each a plate of food, will you let us eat in peace?"
Itto's shoulders sagged in disappointment. "So we're not gonna make out?"
The General blushed a deeper red, growing even more flustered, if that was even possible. "T-Take the deal or leave it, dammit!"
Itto laughed, patting Gorou's head in amusement. "One plate of food and we'll be out of your hair."
Gorou blushed at the contact and pushed Itto's hand away with an eyeroll before walking back to the feast. A few minutes later he came back with another guard, four plates of delicious food in hand.
Itto's face lit up like a little boy on his birthday. "Puppy, I could kiss you!"
"Eh?!" Gorou sputtered, nearly dropping the food. Itto took the plate from him greedily and immediately started digging in. Gorou sighed at Itto's lack of manners but secretly thought his eagerness was rather endearing.
His thoughts, however, were interrupted by some sudden coughing and glass shattering.
Itto was hunched over on his hands and knees, in a coughing fit. His plate had fallen from his hands and shattered onto the ground, leaving rice and beans scattered everywhere.
Oh shit. Beans.
The thing onis are deathly allergic to.
"Fuck," Gorou cursed, kneeling at Itto's side, who was still coughing furiously. His face was flushed red and his eyes were glossy with hot tears.
"Send for some epinephrine!" he barked to his soldiers. He wrapped an arm around the oni, rubbing circles into his back in an attempt to soothe his coughing frenzy.
"Itto, it's okay, try to control your breathing," Gorou said, trying to calm him down a little.
Itto's breathing got less heavy but it was clear that he was still having trouble. Gorou pulled him closer, feeling helpless that he couldn't do anything.
"General! We have the epi!" one of the soldiers yelled from behind him.
Gorou saw Itto's red eyes grow weaker and weaker by the second. Gorou could feel his own heart beating out of his chest. "Stay with me a little longer Itto, we have the medicine..."
He injected the epinephrine into Itto as he slipped into unconsciousness, sagging into Gorou's arms as he did.
-
Sharp lighting pierced Itto's vision as he opened his eyes. A soft hand was rubbing through his long hair and Itto leaned into the touch. Suddenly it jerked away-
Itto looked to see Gorou sitting beside his hospital bed, a surprised expression on his face.
"Holy fuck, I didn't realize you were awake," Gorou breathed, some of the surprise leaving his body. It was soon replaced with concern. "How are you feeling?"
Itto grunted, trying to sit up, "I'm great, man," he mustered. His head hurt like hell and he couldn't breathe through his nostrils. Fuck, what happened?
Gorou's eyes found his feet and his ears drooped in guilt. It was his fault Itto was in pain. He was the one who accidentally fed him beans, after all.
"Itto, I am so sorry," Gorou's voice cracked, and his eyes blinked vigorously to prevent tears from falling. "I didn't know that dish had beans in it. I should have been more careful."
The oni's heart sank at how sad the general looked and sounded. He just wanted to throw his arms around him and kiss away the sadness.
He reached out a weak arm to touch Gorou's shoulder. "Hey, Puppy, don't look so sad! I'm all better now, see?" he pathetically attempted to flex his strong biceps but that only caused him more pain. He winced at his aching head and body.
Gorou held out a miniature cup with some gooey red liquid in it. "The nurse brought this in. It's supposed to ease the pain in your body."
Itto's scrunched up his face. "That looks fucking disgusting."
"Well, do you wanna get better or not?"
"Aren't there pill versions of the medicine?"
"No, just take this and get it over with."
"I don't wannaaa, it looks icky."
"You..! Oh, for Archons' sake..."
Gorou decided to take matters into his own hands and down the medicine himself. He leaned down over Itto and pressed his lips against his. Itto's eyes went wide and his mouth dropped in shock, giving the general the perfect opportunity to coax the medicine into his mouth. The oni almost choked as the liquid dripped down his throat.
Gorou finally pulled away, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He blushed furiously, taken aback by his own decision. Did he really just kiss Itto?
Itto touched his lips, starstruck, his mind blank except for the tingling feeling on his lips where Gorou's lips once were. He hadn't even tasted the cherry flavored medicine that he subconsciously swallowed.
Gorou rubbed the back of his neck, "Sorry, I shouldn't have done that."
"Again please."
"Eh?!"
"Kiss me again."
Gorou could feel his face turning an impossible red. Did he really just say that? Itto puckered up his lips expectantly.
"Are you sure?" Gorou asked.
"Didn't I literally ask you to make out with me yesterday?"
"D-Don't be ridiculous!"
Itto tapped his lips and smirked. "Still waiting on that kiss, Puppy."
Gorou rolled his eyes in fond exasperation, but brought his lips to Itto's anyway. The kiss was at an awkward angle as Itto was lying down sideways to Gorou, but he couldn't remember ever being this happy to kiss someone. Though it was only a few seconds it felt like an eternity, and Gorou wanted to relive it a million times over.
"Happy now?" Gorou asked when they finally pulled away.
"Very," Itto hummed in satisfaction.
"Next time, if you want food, don't go crashing our feast, you pig."
