Chapter Text
Wanderer skimmed over a few files, and papers on his desk, not really paying attention, but just enough to know what they were saying. Nahida had asked him to look over them for her while she did something else, he wasn't even presented an oportuinity to argue before a stack of paper was placed in his arms, and a white haired girl went walking off. While he was half mindedly flipping through them, he noticed a letter on his desk. He was no neat freak, and wasn't crazy orginized, however, he was orginized enough to notice it, and also know that it wasn't there before. Odd. he picked it up and looked over it, it had no return adress, sender listed, or anything. He figured there might be something inside it, so he opened it and saw a letter peaking though. He picked it out of its paper prision and began reading it.
"Dear, Hat Guy."
He lingred on the top for a secondm comfirming that the letter was indeed for him, before settling on reading the rest of the contents.
"I thought about writing to you for a while, i haven't seen you since you were in Simulanka... But a lot has changed since then! First of all, im human now, like you, Hat guy! I don't really know how, and when i asked Albedo, he denied telling me some things. Im sorry I cant tell you how if you wanted to know. However, ts really interesting being a human, I have a few things Ive started to do that I couldnt before!
Albedo also showed me how to paint! I remeber Paimon mentioning a Melusine who loved to paint, and now i see why, its so fun! I did end up getting a lot of paint on myself, that took a while to clean... Ah, but, I loved mixing the colours, it was so cool to see completly different colours turn into new ones! Have you painted before, Hat Guy? I'd love to paint with you sometime. I actually included the painting I made in this letter, Its of us in Simulanka, with Miss Navia, Nilou, Kirara, The traveler and Paimon too! If you ever see any of them, would you be able to show it to them?
One thing being human and being a dragon have in common is friends, new and old, so in short, I got to see Klee again! I belive you remeber her, along with Albedo, you were talking to him while me and Klee were playing Hide-And-Seek! We played lots of games! Fichl even came along and played with us, and one time while we were playing, I meet Mister Venti! He told me about a lot of things! Klee said that he was a bard that played and sung songs around Mondtadt! He showed me how to how to play some notes on his lyre, and told about some of the archons from the other regions, I was wondering since you live in sumeru, Do you know much about it? Its so fun learning new things, and if its okay with you, can you tell me? About Sumeru in general! What's it like there? Whats that biiiigggg school they talk about there like? Apearently, you study in it!
And most importantly, I wanted to ask if you wanted to visit. Mondtadt's amazing, but I feel like I cant even begin to tell what I feel in a letter, I know it would be hard, but if you can, please consider it. I have so much I want to show you, stuff I couldnt do before. I miss you, Hat Guy. And I hope I can see you again.
- Signed, Durin."
Durin. He knew that he had written the letter before reading that, every mention gave it away, but it didn't really process that Durin wrote it. Durin, the small dragon, from Simulanka. He was human. He knew Durin wrote this more than just a signature, more than just every mention of his memories, but that Durins touch lingered. He missed Durin too, he would never admit it, but he did care about Durin, and... he suposes that he sees a part of himself in him. There was also a little peice of paper attached, and when he looked at the back, when he fliped it over he saw the painting Durin mentioned, with himself and Durin in the centere. It was blotchy and imperfect, but he found himself adoring that small peice of art. No matter the quality or skill, it was clear that there was love put into it, even Wanderer could see that.
"Ah, Hat Guy! I was looking for you!" An annoyingly high pitched voice rung out as a white haired girl dressed in green walked towards him. "Hm? Whats that?" She inquired, looking at the letter. "You mean to tell me the God of Wisdom is the one asking questions?" Wanderer spat out at her 'question'. He knew as well as she did that she could know whats in the letter but inists on not looking for 'privacy'. When did a god ever care about that?
"Well if your not willing to answer, may I have a read? You don't get personal letters often." She asked again, and Wanderer tunned out the last part while begrudingly handing her the letter. "Durin? That's the little dragon you talked about, right? And he wants you to visit? I belive it would be good for you if you did, you'd get to experience a new place and socialise a bit more!" She chirped after looking over the letter. He thought about what she said for a while and notted that she did have a point, wheather he'd admit it or not.
"You seem to be thinking hard about it," Nahida begins, "If you ever get worried about your studdies or the sorts, I can pause them while you visit." Wanderer would rather not dwindle to sugar coat, and he could see clear as day that she did want to go, and he did too. He missed Durin, and he wasn't opposed to Mondtadt, though he thought their god was careless based on Nahida's descriptions of him spending most of his days drinking.
"..." Wanderer looked over to Nahida, who stared at him, eyes in thought. "What? You only ever look like that when your about to sugest the most idiotic-" "Can I go with you?" Nahida cut him off, looking straight at him. To which he looked back at her, a small hint of suprise eched in his features. "What...? Leave Sumeru? But don't you have all your oh, so important godly duties to fufil?" He says with a slight tone of uncertinty at the begining which quickly transitioned into sarcasm. "I do, however im sure Sumeru will be okay without me for a day or two, plus, not only can I immeditly come back if need be, but im also sure I can leave anything that needs to be done in that time frame till later, or ask Alhaitham to do it." Nahida beamed, smiling up at him now. He looked at her with an eyebrow cocked up, "Allways leaving it to him... I would be correct to assume my words would do nothing to waver this decison?" He mumbled, to which Nahida looked up at him and calmly responded, "Nope! I really want to meet this "Durin", and judging by that letter, I don't think he would be against meeting me."
Wanderer looked at her, praying for one last shred of mercy on his soul, he doesnt hate Nahida by any means, he may be harsh with her, but he doesn;t hate her, infact, you could say he cares quite a large sum. But, traveling with her is not something he would imagine, he thinks he'll go insane trying to decipher every single riddle she spouts before they even make it there, but at least its someone like Cyno, he would probably undertsand Tighnaris intoleration to his jokes more if he spend any more time with him than necessary. He looked over to the green eyes filled with excitment, and gave a soft sigh. He might try and tone his comments down a bit, she does seem genuinly extatic. Only this time though, maybe.
