Sick Eri

Summary:

Eri comes down with something, and Mirio takes care of her just like a big brother :)
Honestly, this story is just kind of wholesome

Kind of a Prequel to 'Is This A Date?'

Work Text:

“You two can do whatever you want, as long as it’s not dangerous. I will be back sometime after school ends,” Aizawa was giving Mirio the usual rundown he did whenever having the blond babysit Eri. Mirio nodded along, although he practically had the entire speech memorized.

“Alright, see you both later.” And with that, Eraserhead headed out.

Mirio headed to the kitchen, where Eri was eating her breakfast. Well, more like picking at it and occasionally taking small bites.

“What, is the food gross?” Mirio joked.

“No, no, it’s good… I’m just not very hungry,” Eri replied quietly.

“Oh, well, that’s alright!” Mirio smiled. “So, whatcha wanna do today, Eri?”

“Can we just watch TV?” She asked quietly.

“Uh, sure. You really don’t want to color or play a game?”

“Maybe later.”

Mirio and Eri headed to the couch in the living room, where the small girl curled up in a blanket, mentioning feeling cold. Mirio grabbed the remote and turned the TV on.

“So, what do you want to watch?” Mirio asked.

“I like Tangled,” Eri stated. Mirio put the movie on.

Throughout the movie, small coughs and sniffles came from Eri. Her eyes were half-lidded, as if she was trying her best not to fall asleep, and her nose looked a little raw underneath.

“Eri?” Mirio got her attention.

“Yeah?” Eri rasped.

“Are you feeling okay? You’re not looking so hot,” Mirio said.

Eri gave a small sneeze before replying, “I don’t feel very good…”

Mirio gently moved his hand to her forehead, checking for a fever. The girl’s skin was indeed warm to the touch, and now that he thought about it, a paler shade than usual.

“Dang, you must have something somewhere. You’re definitely running a fever,” Mirio moved his hand away. Eri, not feeling well did explained why she hadn’t eaten much breakfast, and hadn’t wanted to do anything except watch TV.

“Don’t worry, Eri! I’ll take care of you until Eraser comes back. I’m going to see if I can find a thermometer and some medicine, okay?” Mirio got up from the couch.

“That stuff is probably in the bathroom,” Eri said through coughs. Mirio found the stuff quickly, then headed to the kitchen and filled up a water bottle for Eri (like one of those refillable metal water bottles, I mean).

Mirio came back to the couch. He started by taking Eri’s temperature, which landed at 101.1°F. Then he measured out a dose of cold medicine and had her drink it. Then he handed her the water, which she took a few sips of.

“Alright, I guess just make sure to stay hydrated and rest, those are really the most important things. But if you ever feel hungry, I’d be glad to make you something. For now, you can continue watching your movie.”

By the time Tangled ended, Eri had fallen asleep, leaning against Mirio. He put on another Disney movie, not moving, so he didn’t wake Eri.

Mirio ended up falling asleep himself, only waking up when he heard Aizawa come in.

“I’m home,” He called boredly, finding Mirio with a sleeping Eri. “Looks like a party.”

“Hello, Eraser!” Mirio spoke quieter than normal. “Eri seems to have caught something. I gave her some medicine, and she’s been sleeping for a few hours now.”

Aizawa sighed. “She did mention something about a sore throat last night. I should have expected she was getting sick.” He gently stroked some of Eri’s hair out of her face, and the girl lightly stirred. “Thank you for taking care of her, Togata. I can take it from here.”

Somehow, Eri stayed asleep as Mirio got off the couch and Aizawa gently laid her down against the pillows. He headed out the door, hoping Eri would get better soon.
