Work Text:
“No need to be nervous, Mina’s gonna love it,” Kaminari stated with a wicked smirk. He was on the couch, texting on his phone at the same time as listening to Kirishima ranting about his feelings. Sero was sitting next to him, occasionally peaking at the conversation. Not that Denki minded; Sero could enjoy the situation with him.
“Hey, didn’t Kirishima basically tell you the same thing on Valentine’s Day?” Sero laughed.
“And I realize now it’s totally not helpful!” Kirishima freaked. “But this is a bit different! Mina and I established ourselves as a solely platonic relationship months ago! I don’t know how she’ll feel when I say I actually like, like-like her! She probably still only sees me as a friend.”
“When did you start liking her anyway?” Sero asked curiously.
“After I went to that amusement park with her, I started feeling differently towards her. But there was this one night where we just sat out on the porch and talked and… I don’t know, something about the way the moonlight hit her face made me realize my feelings?” Kirishima wrung his fingers together.
“That is adorable, bro,” Kaminari said helpfully. He then chuckled at a text sent from his girlfriend.
Meanwhile, Mina was freaking out herself, venting to Jiro about her own feelings.
“Me and Kirishima already established a platonic relationship, what if I ruin it by being romantically interested in him? I’ve never been romantically interested in anyone before this, Jiro! I don’t know what to do!” She shook her friend’s shoulders.
Jiro sighed. She already knew Kirishima liked Mina back, as she was texting with Denki about it as she listened to the pink girl’s vent.
Kyoka: Not to worry, Mina has feelings for Kirishima, too. She’s currently venting about it. She texted her boyfriend.
Denki: lol, guess that means kirishima’s confession plan should go well~
“Why are you texting when I’m having a crisis?!!!!” Mina asked.
“I’m not just going to ignore my boyfriend, Mina. And I’m still listening to you,” Jiro answered.
Denki: hey kyoka can you send mina outside at around 7 p.m.? kiri’s confession plan is supposed to be then and your the closest to mina right now :)
Kyoka: Of course
Kyoka put her phone down, now choosing to let Mina rant for twenty more minutes, as it was currently 6:40 p.m.
“When did these feelings start?” Jiro asked, just to get Mina to talk more.
“Well, there was this one night after we went to the amusement park where we talked outside, and the way the moonlight shone on him… And how he just listened that night… I don’t know, I just caught feelings,” Mina mused. Jiro was trying not to laugh, seeing a text from Denki explaining when Kirishima first noticed his feelings.
“Okay, what is Kami saying that’s so funny?” Mina questioned.
“You’ll understand later,” Kyoka shot a quick answer to her Pikachu.
“You two make me feel so single,” Mina stated.
You probably won’t be single for much longer, Kyoka thought to herself. And before she knew it, it was time.
“Hey, the squad wants to meet outside,” Jiro lied.
“Really? Why?” Mina raised an eyebrow.
“I don’t know. How about you head out, and I’ll be there in a minute. I have something to do quick,” Kyoka lead. Mina gave her a suspicious look before heading out of the room.
Kyoka: Alright, Mina is on her way! I’d suggest getting out of her sight, I told her the squad’s meeting outside so she’d be less suspisciuous.
Denki: okie dokie ;)
Mina headed outside, seeing none of the squad out there. Instead, she just saw a note on the ground and picked it up.
Mina, meet me in the clearing. I want to talk to you about something, it read. Mina’s brow furrowed in confusion, but she followed the note anyway.
The clearing was decorated with red and pink lights, a fire crackling in the middle. A log was set by the fire as a seat, and there were blankets there. Wrapped in one of these blankets was Kirishima.
His hair was currently down, and snowflakes stuck to the strands. He looked up at Mina with a shy smile when she arrived, and gestured for her to sit.
She did, and Kirishima carefully wrapped a blanket around her shoulders. She snuggled up in it.
“So, you wanted to talk to me about something?” Mina asked.
Kirishima nodded. “There’s something I need to tell you. And I’ll admit, I’m a bit scared of where this conversation may lead, but you deserve to know the truth.”
Starting off like that made Mina nervous, but she just gestured for Kirishima to continue.
Kirishima cleared his throat. “I…” He took a deep breath. “Mina, a few months ago, we both agreed that we were just friends. And I admit, I had felt that way then. But sometimes, feelings… They change. Sometimes they just hit you like a bag of bricks, and you can’t do anything to stop them.”
Mina slightly nodded, not completely sure where he was going with this. So she stayed silent and let the redhead speak.
“Kinda hit me all at once,” Kirishima continued. “I think I didn’t truly realize what was happening until that night when we talked on the porch. That I was…” He took another deep breath. “That I was starting to see you differently than before. And these feelings just kept growing, and I can’t ignore them anymore. I can’t keep hiding how I feel about you. Mina, I- I really like you. Like, as more than just a friend.”
Mina’s eyes widened. Was she dreaming? Or was Kirishima really confessing to her?
“I know you probably don’t feel the same way, but I still wanted you to know my-” Mina didn’t let him finish the sentence. Instead, she grabbed the collar of his shirt and pressed her lips on his. The action took him by surprise, but it didn’t take long before he was kissing back.
When they pulled apart, Mina whispered, “I feel the same way about you, Eijiro.”
Kirishima gave her the sweetest grin. “So, you would be my girlfriend?”
Mina smiled in return. “I’d love to.”
