Work Header

get a grip, peach!

Summary:

Peach put the phone on the bed next to him, then laid down, staring at the ceiling. He had been so tired when he left the building that he was sure that as soon as he even saw a bed, he'd collapse into dreamland. But now, for some reason, he was wide awake.

Alternatively, Peach goes to a hotel after playing in the rain with Khun Thee, but can't sleep. He does a lot of thinking instead.

Notes:

set right after episode 3.

Work Text:

It was nearly 2 in the morning when Peach finally laid down to sleep.

It had been a long, long day. The early morning shoot, Tawan suddenly showing up, and of course, Wiwid throwing a fit on the set in front of everyone. He didn't care about that last one much, mostly because that guy was just an asshole who seemed to think that getting Peach off the Winter Collection team would ruin his life or something. What he was upset about, however, was the unfairness of the whole situation. The entire team appeared to feel the same way as him too, Plub and P'Nuch in particular.

Also, given Wiwid's previous history, Peach did not trust him around anyone in the team, especially Plub.

What a jerk, Peach thought as he turned on his side, burying his cheek into the pillow. The hotel room was very nice, despite it being a last-minute booking. Too bad he couldn't enjoy it for that long — he had to get up early to go to Bang Krachao anyway. He closed his eyes, hugging the blanket closer.

Is there any way you could be mine only, Peachayarat?

Peach's eyes snapped open. He turned again, laying on his back, then laughed under his breath. The way he talks, really, he thought, shaking his head in amusement.

What a ridiculous man.

He reached for his phone, scrolling through his chats until he found it. “The one and only Theerakit K. Lee,” Peach read out the contact name, then laughed a bit again, “What a guy.”

His hair was still dripping into the sheets as he carded his fingers through it. The ride back home had been really fun, soaked to the bone and almost freezing once the adrenaline of being in the rain wore off. He still felt a bit warm inside, and he sincerely hoped that Khun Thee's microorganisms wouldn't come to haunt him in the middle of the night.

That would be less than ideal, especially given that he had to wake up at the crack of dawn tomorrow too.

Peach put the phone on the bed next to him, then laid down, staring at the ceiling. He had been so tired when he left the building that he was sure that as soon as he even saw a bed, he'd collapse into dreamland. But now, for some reason, he was wide awake.

Is there any way you could be mine only, Peachayarat?

Peach sighed, turning to the opposite side this time. Why the hell can't I sleep? My body should be shutting down now. He shut his eyes tight, taking a few deep breaths.

The rain was still falling outside. Peach crooked his head slightly in the direction of the windows, hoping the sound of rain would lure him to sleep. But, his mind filled with Khun Thee once again.

If all mafias were like this, I wonder what state that industry would have been in, Peach thought, then laughed to himself again. He's really like some foreign doll, that guy.

Khun Thee, as would be obvious to anyone upon having at least one conversation with him, was an odd guy. He didn't seem to be necessarily a bad person, or a bloodthirsty mafia head like everyone around him seemed to describe him. He was just weird; not even in a bad way, just weird. Sure, he was kinda intimidating — but anyone would seem intimidating if they toured around with a dozen cars and a multitude of bodyguards and that stature. Once you get over the initial terror of being sought out by someone like him, it isn't so bad.

Is there any way you could be mine only, Peachayarat?

Today, however, Khun Thee had felt a bit more human. The sheer panic in his eyes when Peach had dragged him into the rain, which quickly transformed into an almost child-like delight and awe. The way he had smiled up at the sky as if thanking it for giving him this. Peach had never seen him smile like that. Drenched in that pouring rain, probably looking like a pair of idiots getting all soaked like that, but Khun Thee had looked so happy.

He turned to lie on his back again. Were they friends now? Since the whole ordeal including Aran seemed to be over, it would have been obvious for them to part ways now. But—

Khun Peach, would you have enough love to share with my boss?

Peach shook his head in amused exasperation. Like boss, like bodyguard.

Come to think of it, all of them — almost every single person who worked under Khun Thee — were like him. Somewhat peculiar, yet oddly endearing from time to time.

Then I guess I like you.

A flush ran through him. His cheeks felt hot when he pressed his palms against them, exhaling deeply. What was that? They had been talking about Khun Thee's unusual way of saying things, and how they might make people misunderstand, and the guy did just what they were talking about.

Then I guess I like you.

Two heartbeats, then a smug smirk on that annoyingly good-looking face.

Why haven't you interpreted what I said?

Interpret it, see what it means.

Seriously, who even says things like that?! He could have just said, “Peachayarat, I'm really happy to have you as a friend”, or “Peachayarat, I'd like you to work with Arseni for a long time”. But no, he has to say things straight from some old soap opera, not even thinking about the impact it has on the listener.

Not that it has any impact on me, Peach thinks, closing his eyes again in a vain attempt to sleep. I just get so startled by his words, that's all.

Peach tried turning down the lights, playing music, even counting sheep. But sleep didn't seem to want him at the moment, so he laid there in the middle of the big hotel bed, soft music playing from his phone as his mind wandered back to Khun Thee.

Peach huffed a laugh remembering the absolutely horrified look on Khun Thee's face when he had dragged him into the open space. They had kicked water at each other, jumping and dancing around like kids, and for someone who had thrown such a fit about it, he had certainly seemed to be very happy out in the rain.

You haven't answered my question yet.

Is there any way you could be mine only, Peachayarat?

Peach shook his head, turned the music off, and pressed his face stubbornly into the pillow, hoping that would let him sleep. The room seemed oddly quiet now, and those words kept echoing again and again in his head.

Almost as if the speaker was in the room with him.

Is there any way you could be mine only, Peachayarat?

When sleep finally came, the last thing on his mind was his own name in that gentle, almost teasing lilt, and the most sincere grey eyes he's ever seen.
