Summary
Parasite: An organism living in, on, or with another organism in order to obtain nutrients, grow, or multiply often in a state that directly or indirectly harms the host.
Or simply put, a parasite uses the resources of the host to grow, survive or multiply, not caring if the host is harmed. Of course, if the host dies, the parasite dies too.
