Annalise and María Meet

Summary:

How did Annalise win María over at the Halloween Party? What kind of game does she have to be so fast? Crazy.
Don't ask me how none of them run into each other all night, I'm just guessing Blake's house is huge.

Notes:

My writing is based off the wattpad story, not so much the webtoon. I like the name Annalise better than Annabella from the book so I changed it but I kept everything else including the description, she looks different in the two stories.
If you don't remember from the book, María and Kieran are only apart twice the whole night, when he takes a short break from dancing and when she runs away after spin the bottle. Annalise and Kieran don't ever see eachother there. But when Kieran and Mason go upstairs they hear, presumably, Annalise and María in one of the bedrooms. How tf did that happen in those brief windows of time?
I tried to piece it together.

Night And Day

María

As Kieran hurried away I felt embarrassment wash over me. His mixed signals were making me crazy, I wasn't at all convinced that he did like me. Maybe he was shy but the pieces just didn't fit together, he seemed to have no problem talking to me or even complimenting me, but his actions were so stiff. I couldn't figure him out but I'd decided to force confidence for tonight, after all he hadn't backed out and I was interested in him. Yet here we were and he seemed completely uninterested in dancing with me.

I made my way back to the kitchen for another shot. As I turned into the door frame I crashed into someone coming out and stumbled backward. A cold hand grabbed my wrist catching me. I blinked up at a very tall girl I'd never seen before, her pale face was expressionless except for a piercing sharpness in her eyes, they were a soft green, almost grey, and framed with thick dark eyeliner. They were the only soft thing about her.
She had a sharp face, high cheek bones framed by dark hair, pointy chin, angular nose, deep set eyes- her eyes had me dazed. They flicked over me, up and down, before locking back onto my own. She didn't smile, or blink, only gazed at me showing no intention of looking away.

A strange feeling dripped down my spine, at first I thought it was fear but I wasn't sure. She did feel dangerous for some reason that wasn't obvious.

"Uh, I'm sorry I shouldn't have been rushing."
"What are you rushing to?" Her voice was so intense I shuddered.
"Uhh," I couldn't remember, "A shot. I was just going to get a shot, sorry let me get out of your way."

Instead of letting me go she smoothly moved her other hand, the one that wasn't grasping my wrist, through the narrow door way and placed her own shot glass in my hand, she hesitated a moment where she had both hands touching mine, before withdrawing the left hand, but she didn't let go of my wrist yet.

"Thanks, officer." I joked, noticing her cop costume. She did smile then, slowly the smile spread to her eyes surprising me with its friendliness. She let go of my wrist suddenly, as if she had just noticed that she was still holding it. "I didn't drink out of that one yet." She said quickly, then she turned around to go back into the kitchen, probably to get her own shot. I didn't have the guts to follow her, I basically ran away headed back to where I came from.
Shit. Kieran's not special, I just have a thing for the dark and dangerous type

I was a bit too afraid to drink the shot she'd given me despite her disarming smile, still my mind trailed back to her throughout the night. I hoped she would be in the kitchen every time I dragged Kieran back to it with me. But she didn't appear again and eventually I tried to forget about her.

Annalise

I couldn't find the girl I was looking for, it should have been easy to spot her red hair. I'd been surprised when I lost her, I intended for her to follow me into the kitchen after we met but I turned around to see she hadn't. I looked through the house and even outside where people were spread out all over the yard.

I didn't know her name but it didn't matter, I didn't know anyone that I could ask. I wasn't sure why I thought it would be fun to go to a party where I knew no one. I couldn't even find Kieran, I almost wondered if I was at the wrong house after I spent an hour looking for him with no luck. It turned out the only fun thing to do alone was drink so that was all I did. Cursing myself for letting her get away.

She was becoming like a dream. A summery dream in the cold fall. If I was the night, she was the sun with her rich toned skin and flaming red hair. When she looked at me I felt the closest thing to warmth I'd ever felt since turning. There were a lot of cute girls to talk to here. But I just couldn't shake my disappointment enough to care.

María

I'd been excited to kiss Kieran, too excited thanks to my compromised sobriety. It wasn't until I was separated from him that I processed the kiss. He hadn't kissed me back, at all.
That was it.
No more mixed signals, something between us was off and now I knew it for sure.

I tried not to let my pride be hurt when Kieran kissed Mason of all people and seemed completely into it. It was no use though. My pride was bruised. I felt so stupid. For everything. I couldn't look at him for the rest of spin the bottle and I couldn't get away from him fast enough.

When it was finally over, I lept up and fully ran away. I'd always hated feeling unwanted and things kept ending this way for me. Just like with Blake.

I didn't make it far before nearly crashing into someone as I raced by the stairs on my mad dash to go cry in one of the bathrooms. I stopped just in time tipping forward a bit to catch myself. My nose brushed someone's straight black hair and I caught my breath. It was her. The girl I'd run away from.

"Hi." I said breathlessly. She whipped around to face me fixing those deep mysterious eyes on mine and I was spellbound by her once again. I remembered suddenly that I'd been hoping to see her earlier and hadn't.
"I thought you left." I said, wondering if she remembered me.
"I've been looking for you." She replied. She was looking at me now, looking with a gaze that made my heart pick up speed. A gaze that made that unwanted feeling evaporate in a cloud of steam.
"Are you drunk?" I asked, stepping closer. She frowned and bent down slightly so that our noses were touching, "Yes." Her answered sounded reluctant and I believed her.
"Ugh, thank God, so am I." She smiled slowly and I felt that strange feeling again.
"Do you want to go somewhere quiet and tell me your name?" Her voice was cool but it hit me with the opposite effect.

I'd never met anyone so smooth. Not even Blake. I wanted to tell her my deepest fears and most embarrassing secrets. I wanted her to taste me.
