Summary
After the world falls to the undead, fourteen-year-old Sunghoon escapes the ruins of his neighborhood with only his little sister Sunoo clinging to his hand. Shadows follow them everywhere—shapes that move wrong, whispers that echo through deserted streets, and memories of their parents’ final screams that Sunghoon can’t erase.
Just when survival feels impossible, the siblings encounter another pair wandering the ruins: a quiet boy named Jake, who seems to know more about the outbreak than he ever admits, and his younger brother Ni-ki, Sunoo’s age, who speaks of things he’s seen in the dark that no child should witness. The brothers appear out of nowhere, disappearing just as easily, always arriving moments before danger strikes.
Together, the four children form a fragile alliance, but mystery coils around Jake and Ni-ki like fog—how did they survive alone for so long? Why do the infected avoid certain places they lead Sunghoon toward? And what exactly is watching them from the rooftops at night?
As they journey deeper into the silent city, one thing becomes clear:
the dead aren’t the only ones following them. -
