A chill ran down his spine while his back rested against the brick wall. Yeosang scoffed into the receiver end of his phone. Night after night, they would end up like this. The damn bear emoji with the giant X beside it on his screen and the ever so eager red button, aching to be pressed, at the bottom to end the call.
“How much longer are you going to keep playing this game, Jongho?” He asked, breath visible in the cold winter night. “You keep saying you want me, you keep saying that I'm the only one you think of, yet you aren’t here. You’re in a warm home with your pretty little wife and I’m stuck in the cold like some dog on the curb.” The picture was painted so perfectly in his head. Anger and jealousy brewed in the pit of Yeosang’s stomach enough to keep him warm. That should’ve been him. He should be in a warm home surrounded by love. Instead he was here, frozen in place they were supposed to meet for the night. “I’m tired. I’m going home. Don’t call me again unless you mean it this time.”
Yeosang hung up and took a step in any direction that was away from here. Tears threatened to spill but clung to his lashes instead. This was ridiculous. How could anyone ever love him? Why would anyone? All he wanted was someone to give him everything he deserved.
Wasn’t he worthy of that?
Lips spread thin and the back of his hand reached to swipe at the fallen tears. In the midst of his distraction, Yeosang bumped into something warm.
Familiar.
Jongho looked up at Yeosang with red, puffy eyes that matched the elder’s. His phone was trembling in his grasp. “Sangie-” he started but was cut off to a palm meeting his cheek. Jongho’s head now facing another direction for a moment but immediately turned to look at his secret lover crying in front of him. “I left her.” Jongho continued anyway with a reddening cheek. Yeosang’s eyes widened. “What..?” he murmured, staying still when the teddy bear reached for his hands to hold within his own. Never had he seen such a determined look on the younger’s face. Not an ounce of him was lying, Yeosang could see it in his eyes that he was telling the truth.
“I left her because I need you, Yeosang.”
The words spun around over and over in Yeosang’s head. “I need your love. Your smile. Your laugh. God how I love you so much Yeosang.” Jongho’s grip tightening on his hands meant that this moment was very real and very much happening. His breath hitched. Words caught in his throat and Yeosang couldn’t force them out to say anything.
Instead, his body reacted before anything else. Yeosang ripped his hands out of Jongho’s. Before the other could say anything, his arms wrapped around his broad shoulders and held him close. Lips collided with one another not a second later. He smiled for the first time tonight when he could feel Jongho hug him back and return the same passion into their kiss.
Jongho was the first to pull away, only to properly catch his breath. Yeosang still chased after him, pressing another delicate touch to his swollen lips before smiling again into them. “So should we go back to our place?” he whispered. Sparkling eyes that reflected the street lights peered directly into those warm pools of brown in front of him.
“Yes.”
