It was cold outside.
Maybe because he was on a roof. But it was still really cold.
It was also winter (soon Christmas)
It was snowing this afternoon. The roads were icy.The city was loud (Gotham is always loud)
But not as much during other period. Maybe because of the end of the year, or just the cold.
It was icy enough that he was close to fall just five minutes ago when he tried to jump.
He was on a roof, following batman.
There was no Shadow behind batman. Which was strange, because even if shadows always follow batman there was no His shadow. His sidekick.

He know that Shadow was not here everyday. But normaly during the holidays' patrol he was here ( not like his parents)
How could he know it ?
Well easy answer, he followed them. For a while.(he shouldn't but he does)
You see, his name was Tim drake and he was an only child. (maybe the loneliness). And his parents weren''t here often. They were great archaeologist ! (not great parent thought)
They were Jack and Janet drake. And right now they were at Délos a Greeks island for a search.
They were extremely occupied. (Even to be here for Christmas)
Normally he should be at his boarding school (which didn't stop him from sneaking around)
Futhermore for his nine birthday (he is 10 now, a big boy). They gave him a camera.
And what's better to capture than the Gotham's life ? (He meant batman of course, what is Gotham without batman)
So obviously like everyone would do,he went out every night to take some pictures. With time he managed to understand how they do their patrol.
(More easy to follow them when he know where they are)
And he improved in his picture !
Indeed he understood how to deal with night, shadow, also how to hide correctly ect.. (he is kind a pro)
He got a lot of free time. He wasn't popular, didn't have much friends and like he said earlier his parents aren't there often.
Oh also ,"they" because he was not only taking batman in pictures, don't give him wrong he was awesome, but not as Shadow.
Shadow is the sidekick of batman for a long time ago(before he was born !).
And he was awesome, he fighted with a lot of agility, he was discrete, he even used sometimes a sword. A Sword !!! (Actually it was a katana he saw it on the internet)
He looks liked a ninja (really cool)
Thanks to his performance,skill but also because of his uniform. Dark enough to hide him, made to be discret but efficiente.
Shadow helps people, kick some ass (he is not suppose to say that but none is here to punish him), do some detective work. Just amazing.
And he was badass.
You might think it's dangerous for a kid to go out like this. But first like he said he was 10, so not a kid anymore. And in case of, he had a pepper spray. (Also he took karate lesson).
So tonight Shadow wasn't here. And actually it was not the firsts time. It been few month that Shadow didn't appear. (He heard the reason month ago. An arguments between the two on a roof)
Futhermore Damian Wayne wasn't seen close to Wayne manor for a while. So it was surely related.
Oh, yeah maybe you could ask why it was relevant (really easy too)
Because Damian was Shadow, and Mr Wayne was batman.
It was obviously (he don't get why people don't see it)
He mean, suddenly Bruce Wayne got a kid and the some night later batman got Shadow from nowhere ? (Old news can help for that)
The fact that both call Bruce and batman "father"
Also where could batman have so many stuff if he wasn't rich ?
The batman look at shadow exactly the same as Bruce Wayne looking at his son (like if he was.. everything ? Proud ?)
Well maybe sure the relationship between shadow and batman and Damian and Mr.Wayne aren't the same but they have to hide their identity.
And even if Brucie Wayne is dumb, he got many skill for an alcoholic father..
Also he saw one time, during a gala, Damian take a knife out of his pocket the exact same way as Shadow draws his sword (if that doesn't ring a bell)
He saw more of course, one time he tried to find there basement during a gala but it's surely really good hide.
He was also caught by Damian. The older boy look at him like if he saw a victime. The exact same voice as Shadow ! He helped him to find his parents (he said he get lost finding the toilet to avoid having a problem)
In conclusion it was obviously. Really.
