Work Header

you're my, my, my, my, lover

Summary:

Lando and Oscar spend their first night together after the 2025 world championship title was decided. Luckily, Oscar is Lando's biggest supporter.

Notes:

First time writing fluff so it's pretty short...

Congrats to Lando on the WDC!

Work Text:

“Are you sure you’re fine with it?” Lando mumbled into the Aussie’s hair, using his hands to mess with it.

“Lan, I’ve already told you I am.”

“I just want to be sure.”

Sighing, Oscar squirmed his way out of the cuddle. He moved to sit up against the headboard, a decent bit away from Lando.

“No.”

“No, what?” Lando asked, lying up on his side.

A slight giggle escaped Oscar’s mouth and a smile spread across his face. In an attempt to stop Lando from noticing, he tilted his head down. “Just… no.”

“Osc…” Lando whined. “Don’t just give me that.”

“No.”

“I always have to do this the hard way, don’t I?” Lando sat up beside Oscar, going completely silent after.

His interest piqued, “What are you doing?”

“Nothing.”

The room went quiet once more, but there was something there. Waiting. However, Oscar chose to ignore the feeling and grabbed his phone.

Well, tried.

Oscar not looking towards his boyfriend gave Lando the perfect opportunity. An inch away from getting his phone off the nightstand, Lando pulled him away, tickling his stomach. Oscar couldn’t help laughing.

“Stop…. Stop, Lan.” Oscar pleaded, with no seriousness in his tone.

Lando fully pushed him to lie down, continuing to annoy the man, “Not until you tell me what’s going on.”

For a few more seconds Oscar persisted, before finally giving in. “Fine, fine!”

“Good.” Lando leaned down to gently press his lips to Oscar’s forehead, rolling onto his side after. Oscar follows.

“All I was doing was banning you from cuddles until you stopped asking if I was okay.”

“What? Why?” He asked, half offended.

“You haven’t shut up about it since we walked out of the paddock.”

“So?”

“So… I’m fine. I promise.” Oscar ruffled his hair. “Just accept your win already.”

“Mmm… only if you come here.”

“Mmm… I think I’m already pretty close to you.”

“You know what I meant.”

Oscar used his finger to twirl with one of Lando’s curls, “I don’t think I do.”

“Oh my—  You muppet.”

Lando’s hand reached out, caressing Oscar’s cheek. He didn’t pull him in immediately. He just looked, and remembered. Remembered how beautiful Oscar was, how he always knew what to say, and how it felt to fall in love with him. When the kiss finally happened, it wasn’t rushed, it wasn’t hard. It was gentle and slow. The type of kiss that said “I love you to the moon and back” or some other cliche love line.

Muffled between kisses, Oscar asked, “What time is it?”

“Tired already?” Lando pulled his lips away, but kept his hand in place.

“Not tired… but we said we were gonna watch a movie tonight.”

“Hm? You’d rather watch a movie than be with me? I’m hurt.”

“Yes, I would. And I’m going to get popcorn.” Without another word, Oscar was out of the bed and over to the kitchenette.

“Hey! Get back here.”

“Patience. You do want popcorn, yes?”

Lando sighed, Oscar had him there.

While eagerly waiting for his boyfriend to come back, even though he was only a few metres away, Lando started to scroll through some shows. They hadn’t exactly decided on something between the whole “fighting for world championship” thing. That took up most of their week.

It almost seemed planned, the way that Oscar came back to the bed right as the remote was hovering over Drive to Survive. After putting the popcorn bowl between them, Oscar didn’t hesitate to bring it up either.

“Watching our job… quite the romantic movie night.”

“It is. You get to look at my pretty face.” Lando said in an attempt to play off this coincidence.

“Or… I could look at you right here.”

“And you should. But what should we watch then?”

“Eh, it’s your night. I don’t care.”

“Alright, Clueless it is.”

Oscar had to stop himself from giggling too hard, “Clueless? Really?”

Really. It’s a good movie.”

“Whatever you say, Lan.”

“Yes, whatever I say.” He joked, wrapping his arm around Oscar’s shoulders.

Finding the actual movie on Netflix proved to be more trouble than it was worth. When letting Lando have the remote, Oscar completely forgot he couldn’t spell for shit. It took almost a full three minutes for him to spell Clueless right. It never occurred to him that the movie popped up in the recommended searches. Could’ve saved time, but oh well. Oscar was having a joyous time watching the constant misspells.

When he was finally about to start the movie, Lando postponed it just for one more minute.

“Hey, Osc?”

“Yeah?”

“I’m probably going to fall asleep in the first ten minutes.”

“Oh, are you sure you wanna watch the movie?”

“I do, but in case I fall asleep, I love you.”

Lando’s thoughts managed to prove right when dozed off on Oscar’s shoulder before Cher even made it inside school. Although initially making fun of the movie, Oscar was invested. At least, enough to not notice Lando was asleep for ten minutes. When Oscar finally saw, he shut off the tv and brought a light kiss to Lando’s head.

“Good night, baby.”
