Notes:

I think this is probably my least favorite prompt pair, and I had no idea what direction to go in. It totally reflects in how short this is. Still cute. But not my favorite by far. I have something much better and much spicier for tomorrow! See you all then. Also any mistakes in this are mine. This wasn't beta'd.

Work Text:

With Pangi’s increased stream numbers from November he decided to take Lukey on a real vacation after Christmas was over. Neither of them had gotten to take much of a break recently, Lukey for far longer than himself since he had gone on vacation over the summer. But there was also the fact they had barely gotten to spend any time together since they had gotten together before Twitch Con San Diego.

So with that in mind he booked them at a ski resort in France, and they met each other at the airport. No one was told. Pangi was of course excited to spend time with his boyfriend, but also to have something fun and active to do during the colder months when it was hard to feel active. And it was another opportunity to be better at something than Lukey. While he loved his boyfriend it didn’t mean he wasn’t going to take the opportunity to tease him.

On the first full day of their trip Pangi dragged Lukey out onto the slopes. With their rented gear they warmed up with some smaller slopes, slowly gliding around families and kids, and then went for the larger challenges. Lucas seemed content to just enjoy the process, pulling out his phone to take selfies of them together every so often, but Pangi was getting himself ready for a race to the bottom on one of the more advanced slopes. After a few more practice runs he felt confident enough to issue his challenge.

“You want to race?” Pangi asks once they got back to the ski lifts.

Lukey rolls his eyes. “Not really.”

“Oh come on Lucas… please.” He pouts.

“I don’t see the point, but if you want to. Fine.” Lukey says, not sounding convinced. Pangi doesn’t care if he does or not. He’s winning either way and is going to hold it over his head later.

They take the lift up to the right run, and move off to the side to get themselves ready. Lukey makes adjustments to his equipment while he takes some pre-race selfies. They’ll make good before and after pictures for when he wins. He makes sure to take some of just himself and then a few with Lukey for the sake of variety. They’re not out to their fans yet, and only a select few of their friends are aware of the nature of their relationship. Still, bragging rights are bragging rights.

“Hey you ready?” Pangi asks, tucking his phone back into his jacket. The cold wind against his face is bracing, and making him excited to start.

“Yea, I guess.” Lukey sighs, getting back to his feet. “So what are the rules?”

“Whoever makes it down to the bottom wins.” Pangi shrugs. “Maybe whoever makes it past the last flag?”

“Yea that’s fine. You want a good luck kiss before we go?” His boyfriend smirks.

Normally he would jump at the chance to kiss his boyfriend, but not this time. Lukey has that mischievous look on his face like he plans on sabotaging him and he doesn’t trust him at the moment. “I don’t need any luck. I’m just gonna win.” He says. “Ready?”

Lukey frowns, but doesn’t make a big deal about it. They can kiss later. “Sure.”

The two of them line up, and then he counts them down. “Three… Two… ONE!”

Pangi launches himself forward, trying to pick up as much speed as he can early on. The scenery rushes past him, but he’s barely paying attention. All he knows is that Lukey is behind him and that the slope has little jumps that he’s going to want to avoid. It’ll slow down his momentum too much, and he can’t afford to make a mistake and land badly. For the same reason he takes the outside edge of the curve when they get to it. Coming out of the curve he’s still ahead, but he has to veer to the side to avoid a series of jumps going right down the middle.

Once he’s past them he notices just a little ahead is Lukey’s bright white outfit. Not wanting to be beaten he tucks himself down to gain speed, but Lukey’s movements are sharper, and more practiced. He’d assumed since Lukey was mainly a snowboarder that he would have an edge over him in skiing, but now his stomach is dropping as the gap between them closes. They go around the next curve with Lukey pulling impossibly far ahead.

Pangi has never liked the taste of defeat, always taking it to heart. The cold chill of disappointment and apathy crashes over him, but he forces himself to follow behind Lukey as best he can.

There’s no questioning who wins, Lukey blows past the final flags marking the run at least a full two minutes before he does. He stops in front of his boyfriend who already has his goggles up, panting at him with a smile.

“That was great.” Lukey laughs excitedly, his voice bright and cheerful.

“You won…” He mutters, feeling even worse that he hears how excited Lukey is to have beaten him.

Lukey beams at him. “I know. Did you see how fast I was going? Those jumps were crazy, I want to do that again.”

Pangi’s stomach sours at the thought of doing that slope another time, he’s not ready to try to redeem himself yet. “Maybe tomorrow.”

“You feeling ok?” Lukey asks, tilting his head to the side like a confused dog.

“Fine just… cold.” He lies.

“Well do you want to go back to the room then?” He nods, grateful for the excuse to leave, and heads over to where they’re supposed to return their equipment.

Pangi’s in a bad mood the whole time, staying quiet as he tries to think about what he needed to do better to win. Clearly he played things too safe. He should have taken the inside of the curves to maintain his distance, and maybe risked the jumps so he didn’t lose momentum by having to go too far off course. Silly mistakes. Stupid mistakes. He’d let that win slip right out of his hands.

“Sem… Love? Are you ok?” Lukey asks, squeezing his hand to pull him out of his thoughts.

“Yea… Just thinking.” He huffs. The silence settles back over them, and he knows he’s being a bad sport about losing, but he can’t help it.

“To be fair, I've done this before.” Lukey says while they walk back into the main building of the resort.

“Yea, but I thought this would be like the man hunt.” He grumbles, leading them over to the elevators.

Lukey chuckles. “You mean where you had Tertel helping, and you were stream sniping me in a place you are vastly more familiar with?”

“Yea…” He sulks the whole ride up to their floor.

“You can't beat me at everything you know.” Lukey sighs, pulling out his key card and opening the door for them.

“I should.” He mutters, walking in and immediately taking off his warm clothes. Their room is cool, but nowhere near as cold as it is outside and he’s feeling overwhelmed enough as it is without overheating on top of it.

“Doesn't it make it more fun if there's just a little bit of a risk I could win though?” Lukey asks softly, leaning against the couch, watching him.

“Maybe… I don't know.” He shrugs. Pangi isn’t really that upset about it anymore, he’s more embarrassed than anything, but he can’t shake the bad mood he’s fallen into.

“Here… why don’t you go take a hot shower and I’ll call someone about turning on the fireplace, ok?” Lukey approaches him slowly, resting his hands on his shoulders. Guilt fills him, he should have taken that good luck kiss earlier. Maybe if he had he would have won. Yea… that was it. He went without his good luck charm. Rookie mistake.

“That sounds nice.” He sighs, letting out some of the stress and pressure he’d been feeling weigh him down. Lukey presses a soft kiss on the corner of his mouth then pushes him in the direction of their bathroom.

He grabs something he can lounge in to change into after his shower so he doesn’t have to be cold while getting dressed, then goes and turns on the hot water.

The warm spray helps melt away a lot of his frustrations, and chases off the chill of the cold and of the loss. Not entirely though. His mood is still sour when he comes out of the bathroom.

Lukey is patiently waiting his turn when he emerges, brushing past him without a word or another kiss to comfort him. He frowns. Maybe he deserved that. He’s been kind of a dick since he lost, and Lukey doesn’t deserve to be treated that way no matter how shitty he’s feeling.

Pangi tries to make up for it by getting out the big fluffy blanket the resort had stored in their closet, and laying it out over the couch. He curls up underneath, planning on letting Lukey nap on top of him for a bit before they go have dinner. Hopefully a little quiet time with the fire going will help his nerves reset.

Lukey comes out of the bathroom, and hovers around the door, keeping an eye on his phone for whatever reason. He’d hoped that Lukey would come cuddle with him and make him feel better, but instead he’s buzzing around, not wanting to settle in one spot for long. While he waits for whatever it is Lukey is doing he takes a moment to appreciate the room. They have a suit that came with a fireplace, it’s gas powered, and has to be operated by a staff member but it’s been his favorite part so far. Between the couch and the fireplace is a coffee table, and they had ordered room service the night before, eating here in front of the fire.

Part of him wants to do that again. He had planned to take Lukey to a nice restaurant tonight, and was hoping to get his mood improved before they did so… but it isn’t going so well so far. He follows Lukey around the room again, wishing he would just come lay down with him.

Pangi is pulled out of his sulking by the knock at the door. “Is that the guy for the fire?” He asks, noticing that Lukey looks exceptionally pleased with himself.

“That and he’s bringing us a little something I ordered while you were in the shower.” Lukey’s voice trails over to him from the door. He sits up on the couch, trying to catch a glimpse of what’s on the other side of the door early, but Lukey is blocking his view.

A few moments later a resort employee wheels in a cart with little bowls, two large mugs, a large metal pitcher on a hot plate, and a smaller ceramic jug with a lid. A cookie tray is placed on the coffee table in front of him while Lukey hovers behind the couch watching closely. The employee fills their mugs with a rich and dark hot chocolate, offering a variety of toppings including marshmallows, whipped cream, and various candy toppings that kids would enjoy to top it with.

Pangi takes his with whipped cream, Lucas opts for marshmallows. The two small bowls with the marshmallows and whipped cream are set onto the table, and the small ceramic pitcher is filled with the remaining hot chocolate and set next to the small bowls. The employee then lights their fireplace for them on his way out, taking the cart with him.

He can’t help but feel fondness for his boyfriend. “You didn’t need to do all this.”

“I wanted to. Besides, now we can have our hot chocolate like we did after the manhunt.” Lukey grins, coming around to join him on the couch under the large blanket.

“It was supposed to be celebratory though. This is pity hot chocolate.” Pangi frowns.

“No pity at all darling. This is ‘I love you’ hot chocolate.” Lukey declares boldly.

He can’t help but chuckle. “And what is ‘I love you’ hot chocolate?” He asks, playing along.

“It’s hot chocolate that you have with someone you love, obviously.” Lukey rolls his eyes teasingly.

“As long as it isn’t pity hot chocolate.” He says, picking up his mug. Having long learned his lessons about hot liquids and their ability to burn, he takes the first sip cautiously. But the resort had let it reach the perfect temperature, and drinking it felt like he was slipping into a warm bath. And maybe… just maybe, he can feel the love in it.

Lucas reached for his own, taking a long drink from his mug. “That’s really good. Wow.”

They sit quietly together, drinking their hot chocolates until they’ve emptied their mugs twice over. When they’re done Pangi feels warm and full, and lets Lukey pull him down into his arms.

Usually when they cuddle he’s the one on the bottom, but he can’t help but admit, if only to himself, that this is nice too. He settles in with his head on Lukey’s shoulder, the blanket getting pulled up to his shoulders. It’s warm, and cozy. Perfect. Pangi feels Lukey’s arms come up and wrap around him, pulling him in close. Finally he feels his body start to relax.

“Do you feel better, love?” Lukey murmurs softly.

“Yea. Thanks.” He sighs, letting the last of his tension leech out of him. Lukey is more comfortable to lay on than he thought he would be. He could see himself getting used to this.

“Of course.” Lukey presses a kiss against his temple. “What do you want to do for dinner?”

“Lets order room service. I don’t want to share you with anyone for a while.” He murmurs, already feeling himself falling asleep. He’ll take Lukey to the restaurant tomorrow.

Lukey snorts. “Sap.”

“Love you too.”
