Work Text:

You didn't know much about him, not where he was from, what he liked... anime right?... That kinda sounds like a stereotype, but surely he’s nice. Well that was for you to decide.

Kiku, a pretty boy from Japan, or well a pretty boy who happens to be Japan. He seemed so curious about where you lived, something you found quite lovable about him. He was coming to visit you, you both met each other after bumping into each other while he was on his way to a conference in America. You had nowhere to go, so you accompanied the country to his meeting, you weren't very pushy on small talk, maybe you could tell he was a shy person, or maybe you were simply too tired that day.

He seemed to appreciate that, even taking the initiative to start up a chat with you. He asked a bunch of questions about the U.S, you kindly answered each one , with what knowledge you had, some he had were a bit strange.

“Is it true you eat burgers everyday? I mean the people, not America himself” He had asked

“Sure” You answered him, indulging his ideas about Americans, not like what he asked was harmful or anything. It was truly a pleasant conversation you both had.

By the time you had arrived at the conference building, he had already slipped you his number. You could still remember that look on his face when he waved you a gentle goodbye, that sweet, soft smile lighting the boy's face.

From then on you both started texting each other, and now it's the current date. The day he’s coming to visit you. You both had been more or less , just friends, but you couldn't help but feel as if you felt just a tad bit different these past few days...

You stood outside the terminal, waiting for your friend. It’s winter, you couldn’t wait to go to a cozy cafe with him, watch a movie of some sort next to the fireplace, go for other dumb stuff, maybe movies! As you think of those things, you can’t help but realize you may just be hoping for a date with him. That in itself wouldn't be all too bad.

You were all bundled up for the season, grey mittens clinging to your hands, perhaps too small. A homey sweater beneath a warm jacket that you had bought a few years back at a christmas market, not that you celebrated or anything, you simply wanted to have a walk around.

That’s when you saw him, that winsome ebony hair, a perfect contrast from the white snow all around. You recognized him completely, he didn't look different at all, his hair not even an inch longer. He had a few too many suitcases, guess he was planning on buying stuff, not like he could fly over china and just get it there… though they don’t seem to like each other all that much. Oh well that didn’t matter! You’ll just show where to get the best of what he wants.

You don’t go in to hug him, you're not that sure if he’d even be comfortable with the idea, you've only seen him once. It’d be a bit much. So you called out his name with a delighted tone. He turned his head, you could feel the moment his eyes laid on you, a strange warm feeling setting in me. A strange sense to have in this frigid weather. He walked towards you and only now do you remember how much shorter he was than you. You wouldn't consider yourself a tall guy or anything but compared to him, you certainly were.

You went for a light side hug, which didn’t seem to bother him one bit. You then offered to help with a suitcase or two, you had to be a “proper gentleman”.

“How was the flight?” A pointless question you had to ask. The answers always appear similar. Well, for you at least, they’re always the same: sucky, long, couldn’t sleep, people being a pain in the ass. He came all the way to Japan, you couldn't even imagine how long that took, but his answer is nicer than you’d expect.

“Oh it was quite peaceful. I did some reading, "he answered in a calm voice as you both got to your car—lucky ass— you opened the door to the passenger's seat before taking his suitcases and bringing them behind to the trunk.

“We should head back to my place, you must still be tired after that long flight, right?” You had to wonder if he was tired, you were 84% sure that he indeed was, but you had to make sure after he said he found the flight peaceful.

“I guess we could, for a bit. I do want to get to sightseeing soon though, or something amusing” He replied with slight anticipation in his voice. With that you gave a tired/shocked lil anime face. He really wasn't tired? What was this guy made of?

He could be plainly lying, which sure, you get. Wanting to uphold a certain image, but really lying about how a planned ride went? That's a different type of dedication, and you're not sure if it's the good kind. That or he just had a fine time and you're over reacting because you always have a shit time in the air. Probably the second option.

By the time you got home it was around noon. You could show off some american cuisine!! That is if you could cook better than pasta and if american cuisine got magically better enough for someone like Kiku to enjoy it. It doesn’t matter right, you should make him something, you have to be hospitable. He’s your guest after all. So you just search up something that looks easy to make and that happens to be american-ish.

You had already helped Kiku bring his stuff in. You didn't have a spare room or a couch big enough, so you used a spare mattress you had and placed it inside your room. Like a sleepover, for a few too many nights. It would be nicer than any other sleeping arrangement anyway, plus maybe you’d even like having someone near you, a certain someone named Kiku.

You had set the table, that easy thing that also happened to american-ish was mac n cheese, which might not actually be american but you just needed something to make. Before you knew it you both had already finished. You wanted to ask if it was ok at the least, surely it didn't compare.

“Was the food ok? I mean I can't make something as good as you could, but I hope it wasn't bad or anything” You asked with a tender smile as you carried the dishes to the sink.

“Oh, yes it was good” He answered back with a smile of his own. Hearing that was all you needed.

Activities, right! He said he wanted to do something! You weren't particularly an expert of sightseeing, but you did know of a national park nearby. That and a petting zoo. You could already imagine how cute he’d look all cozied up with cute fluffy animals. So you made a plan for this first day. Petting zoo and then the national park at evening time.

The sky is far too bright today, in fact it’s blaring, You shield your eyes.

“We’ve arrived, Kiku!” You yell as you grab your bag out of the car. He smiles softly, another soft warm feeling nuzzles up to your heart, if only he was the one nuzzling you instead.

You head over to the ticket booth while he already looks at the animals. He seems to love them, he was always a fan of cute fluffy animals ,wasn't he?

You run up to him, showing him the tickets. “So what do you want to see first? They've got these adorable little bunnies! I’m sure you’d adore those!” You tell him and his face lights up even more than before. You don’t think you've ever seen him look like that before.

He looked so adorable! And surely even more if he was snuggled up with bunnies. So you took his expression as a yes. You grabbed his hand, softly, and dragged him over to the bunny pen, softly. Those bunnies were so tiny, they were a bunch of little dwarf bunnies. They climbed all over him the second he sat down, of course they did, who wouldn’t love a boy like him? You obviously had to steal a picture of that moment.

Kiku spent quite a long time petting those bunnies, around 6 of them to be exact, only one warmed up to you, but you were fine with that, it was a cute Jersey Wooly, it was so precious, the little cutie had such a silly face, in the good way of course, and by the time you two had finished the sun was already setting.

So you brought kiku along to the car. “Ready to see the prettiest sunset this side of the world has to offer?”

“Yes” He answers softly.

ALr i'm sorry, this is all we got. more Kiku in the future.
