Work Text:
A new city, a fresh start. So far from faraway town. His mother had given his friend's mom's their landline number, who then relayed it down to his friend's directly. And yet, nobody called. Not a single person had even thought about contacting him again, not even Basil.
He knew something like this would happen, he saw this coming. Omori saw this coming from miles away. He laid his head onto his pillow for a nights rest.
He woke up in a dark void. Not black space. There was nothing here. He stood up and walked around, his head held down, perking up occasionally to dart at things he though he saw in the dark. He hugged himself, he tried breathing like Mari had taught him. He tried to CALM DOWN, he tried to FOCUS. Nothing worked. He began to see things more clearly in the dark, his friend's faces, distorted beyond recognition. They were so disappointed in him, they said they would never forgive him. That they hated him. He had let them slip through his fingers the second he had them back, and there's nothing he could do. He had gotten the guilt off his back that day, but he destroyed the connections he had rebuilt himself. This was his fault.
"It's all your fault."
He heard a familiar voice coming from the dark, it was Omori. "You knew this was going to happen. I told you." Sunny fell to his knees. Omori stood in front of him, dawning his knife. "Hey. It's okay." Omori crouched down to Sunny's level. "That's why I'm here. You know you can never repair the damage you did, so let me help." Omori slid his knife across Sunny's thigh, slicing through his shorts and cutting his skin when it makes contact. "You're just so pathetic. You know you need me, and you can never get rid of me, Sunny." His figure began to fade in and out of his own mind, Sunny stared down at his hands as Omori continued to cut him. "Just disappear. You know you want to. You know you can't handle this." Blood began to show on Sunny's hands, his breathing shook rapidly. Short and quick breaths as he kicked Omori away. He gripped his head and handfuls of his own hair after he swiftly crawled away, frantically kicking. He didn't want this, he let out a silent scream into the dark as Omori re-approached him. Despite his bloodied legs he forced himself up and ran. He ran and he ran. Until he came across a door, which he hurriedly shut himself inside. He sat against the door, holding his head. He lost control of breathing long ago but even more so now as he began to panic. Hands came from behind the door and grabbed him. He tried to pull away as the door behind him dissipated and he looked around him. It was his.. Friends! Faces melted almost to the point where he barely knew it was them. He wanted to cry. He felt the tears welling up inside of him, yet nothing came out. They said things they would never say. Never. 'They wouldn't want me to.. They.. We were friends.. Why?' He thought to himself. But that didn't stop them.
They began to rip him apart, limb from limb. Their laughter echoing through this.. Space. Nobody around to help. Not Omori. Not a soul. Him and his self torment. Over and over, it felt like it went on for years. This torture seemingly inflicted onto him by his past friends. He was lit on fire, stabbed to death, beaten. Yet it all felt deserved. He was the root cause of the complete loss of.. everything. after all. While he suffered, he muttered three words. "...I hate you..." Although they weren't directed towards anybody in the thick of his own nonsensical torment, the flashing of colors now appearing in the dark. The laughter as he's murdered inside of his own mind. Over. And over. And over. And over again.
He slowly opened his eyes, sluggishly got up. The nightmare was over. He stared blankly at the wall for a few minutes, not a thought in mind. It was just a nightmare, but the pain was real. He looked over to the phone in his room, the light was blinking. But what was the point in listening in on whatever was said? For everything was too long gone, there was no chance anyone had anything nice to say to him. So, he laid in bed.
And went back to sleep.
