Work Text:
Carmilla slipped out of her bed well past dawn, trying her best not to wake the girl who had been sleeping beside her. Light filtered in through the curtains in her room, casting a reddish glow around Velvette’s messy hair. She stretched, watching her sleep, and stepped over to the open door of her closet. After dressing herself in a baggy T-shirt — she particularly liked wearing this one at home because her lover had cut the shoulders and collar off to make it look more fashionable — and a pair of leggings, she made her way out of the room as quietly as possible.
When Rosie slept over at Carmilla’s — which was quite often — she was usually joined by Velvette. The Victorian age woman always insisted on being sandwiched between them two. If Velvette weren’t there, she’d happily press her chest against Carmilla’s and fall asleep like that. But on nights that the doll demon decided to stay over alone, she took up an abnormally large space in Carmilla’s bed for such a tiny woman, and happily pronounced herself a little spoon every night.
Carmilla would be lying if she said it bothered her.
Last night, Velvette’s usual bed habits weren't quite so. She had stayed up for hours on end, making endless calls to her models and designers as she tried to figure out an emergency with her next show. All night, all she had in one hand was her phone and a can of Monster in the other.
By now, she’d probably only been asleep for less than four hours, leaving Carmilla to happily let her sleep while she prepared breakfast.
Carmilla lazily padded into the kitchen, yawned, and flipped a knob on the oven to the perfect temperature. After getting the coffee maker going, she got out a frying pan, butter, and some pancake mix.
While the weapons dealer spent most of her time at home cooking decadent meals for Rosie and Velvette, she couldn’t do it all the time. In fact, she often kept a box of pancake mix around just for mornings like these when she needed something quick and easy.
She hastily put the ingredients together and began to mix them. It wasn’t long before they were ready to go over the burner. Carmilla sighed and poised the bowl over the decently warmed pan.
When she was flipping her last pancake, Carmilla felt a pair of thin arms wrap around her waist. The older overlord chuckled, placing her free hand over Velvette’s. “*Amor,*” she murmured, spinning around. “You really should get some more sleep. You must be so tired.”
Velvette gave a subdued nod, pressing her forehead against her chest. She was definitely still sleepy, but she flashed her a wide — positively fake — smile, “Thanks, babe, but I’m good. Just get me some coffee, and I’ll be good to go!”
Carmilla raised an eyebrow, but she pointed to the coffee machine, now full with a brew. Velvette beelined toward it and greedily made herself a cup. Then, she made her way to the already-set breakfast table, sitting down while she waited for Carmilla to finish up and bring the food out.
“You know,” the older woman began as she walked the pancakes out to her. “You really shouldn’t work so much *mi cariño.* It’s wearing you down.”
Velvette opened her mouth to protest.
Carmilla interrupted with haste, “And before you say anything, coffee won’t sustain you forever.”
She pouted before parting her lips to speak again. “What abou’ Monster?” the doll demon asked with a smirk, taking a sip from her near-empty cup. She peered down into it, then got up from the table for a top off. From the kitchen, she called. “I know you’re right, babe. I’m tryin’. Jus’ gets hard with all these shows.”
Carmilla nodded in acknowledgement, serving herself. Velvette came out a moment later, grabbing herself a pancake and slathering some butter over it. She smiled up at the weapon’s dealer when she finished, “Don’t worry too much abou’ me, Milly. I’ve got it under control.”
“If you say so,” she replied, unconvinced, but dropped it.
“Do you wanna hear about the new dress set I’m designin’?” she asked, taking a large bite from her pancake.
Carmilla smiled, chewing her own bite. She quite enjoyed hearing about Velvette’s work. There were all these little things that she was coming to understand about clothing. What went together and what didn’t, colour theory, and all the different styles of every little thing. It was slowly becoming her new favourite meal subject. Sometimes, Rosie would even join in over dinner, though she had far less to add than the member of the Vees.
The shorter demon happily commenced her new rant about her work, taking bites between words and frequent sips of coffee. By the time she’d almost finished with her breakfast and refilled her cup once more, she let out a jaw-splitting yawn, which she attempted to stifle and miserably failed. The backs of her sharp canines were entirely visible from Carmilla’s place on her chair.
“So, you are sleepy. Did the coffee not work?” Carmilla teased, giving a faux gasp. She had her chin propped on her hand.
“Shut up,” she mumbled, blushing.
“Tell you what,” she said, getting up and grabbing her plate. “You go change into some PJs while I clean up. Then, we’ll take a nap together.”
Velvette hummed. Her eyes drifted shut, then she snapped them open, “Okay, Milly. Only if you’re sure.”
She nodded and kissed her forehead, “Definitely. Now, go *muñequita.*”
The smaller demon wobbled to her feet and made her way back to Carmilla’s bedroom. Before she rounded the corner of the hall, she called back, “Thanks for brecky.”
Carmilla smiled to herself, “Of course.” Once Velvette was out of sight, she started her work transporting their dishes from the table to the sink and putting the remaining pancakes in the refrigerator. She cleared the table and kitchen in record time. Within a few minutes, she’d joined Velvette in the room, preparing for the nap she’d promised.
The Vee was already laying in bed, back turned to the door with her eyes closed. Her breathing was slowly evening out, but she wasn’t quite asleep yet. She had dressed herself back into a tangerine orange nightgown.
Carmilla removed her bra out from under her shirt then wrapped her arms loosely around her lover’s waist as she slid into the bed. She tucked her chin into the crook of her neck. After a moment, she closed her eyes.
Carmilla woke up the better part of an hour later. She yawned before her eyes widened in surprise. There was a wet warmth spreading through the bed between her and Velvette. She sat up and tore back the covers, causing both her and the smaller overlord to shiver. She examined the bed to check and see that the wet wasn’t from herself.
Thankfully, only the shins and knees of her leggings had gotten wet. Unfortunately, it meant that Velvette was the one making the mess.
The Vee whimpered, pressing closer while her legs clenched. The back of her nightgown was absolutely soaked. The older woman made a sympathetic sound and placed her hand on her shoulder. She shifted away from the wet slightly.
“Baby? Can you wake up for me?” Carmilla whispered in her ear, shaking her small frame slightly.
Velvette squirmed sleepily, “Hm?” She squeezed her eyes shut tighter.
She couldn’t hold back her smile. She shook her again, “Velvette, love, wake up for me. You had an accident.”
Her scarlet eyes popped open. She shifted, sat up in bed, and looked down at herself and the messy sheets. Her bottom lip wobbled, voice a childlike tearful, “Accident?”
The taller woman hugged her, hoping to calm her tears while still trying not to get herself anymore wet than she already was, “Yes, *amor.* But it’s okay. I can clean it up if you wanna take a shower?”
Her eyes were affixed to the mess that was her bottom half. Only one moment passed before she burst into tears. Not the kind that she would wipe away furiously, trying to hide the evidence of her emotion. Not the kind of the tears she could turn on with the blink of an eye for the cameras.
No, she was crying the kind of tantrum tears. Littlespace tears.
Carmilla felt her heart pang. She moved to cradle the younger one’s face, brushing back some of her hair.
“I’m BAAAAD!!” she cried, weakly attempting to push her away.
“No, no!” she exclaimed, patting her back with one hand while she tipped her chin up with the other to look her in the eyes. “You’re not bad at all, baby girl. You’re just little right now, and little ones can’t control everything.” She booped her nose. “Sometimes not even their bladders, *muñequita.*”
Velvette kicked her feet, causing the sheets to make lewd sounds. Thank Lucifer they had a mattress protector on because, Christ, the bed was drenched in the evidence of her mess. Three cups of coffee before a nap was definitely not her finest idea.
The little demon sobbed, looking down at her pee-soaked pyjamas, “No! I’m bad! And I’m dirrrrrrty!”
Carmilla shook her head, gathering the smaller demon up in her arms. She bounced her, “No, no. Not bad *or* dirty. Not at all. Nope. Not you.” She felt little hands grab onto her shoulders for balance as the smaller girl went up and down.
After a moment, the bobbing seemed to soothe Velvette, though she was still sniffling hard. She rested her head on one of her broad shoulders, drying her tears on her shirt.
The older woman continued speaking softly as she made her way out of the room and down the hallway, “Now, I’m going to take you to the bathroom, and we’ll have a nice warm bath to get you nice and clean. Then, Momma will get you in some comfy clothes and a diaper. How does that sound, my baby?”
Velvette sniffled. Another couple tears fought their way past her lashes. Carmilla wiped them each away, setting her down on the bathmat. She turned to turn the water in the tub on and close the plug. When she made her way to turn back around, she felt two arms snake around her thigh. She glanced down to see Velvette staring up at her with watery eyes.
“Momma?” she pleaded.
She tutted softly, carding her fingers through her tri-coloured hair, “Oh, baby. Hey, it’s okay. It’s okay. Momma’s not mad. Do you see Momma mad?”
She didn’t answer. “I made a mess,” she blubbered instead, pressing her face against her leg.
Carmilla nodded, helping to get her nightgown off, “Yeah. You did. But I’m gonna clean it up. And we’re going to do better next time.” She pulled the orange pyjamas up and over her head.
Despite her reassurances, Velvette still continued to cry, her body racking with sobs. The weapons dealer tried everything she could think of, but the crying didn’t cease. The tub was decently filled with water by the time she deemed herself unsuccessful, and when Carmilla bent down to check the temperature with her wrist, something caught her eye.
Velvette’s bright pink rubber duck. It was spotted with a plethora of hearts, and stayed in the bath just for these bathtub regressions. Of course. That would make this better.
Carmilla grabbed it from the tub’s shelf before turning back to her. She carefully opened the smaller woman’s hand and pushed the duck into her palm. Her fingers curled around it, holding it close to her chest as she sniffled.
The taller woman bent down, carefully removing her underwear before picking her up and setting her safely in the tub. She turned the faucet off.
Velvette, almost worriedly, let go of the duck, then watched it float to the top, bobbing on the surface of the water. She gave it a toothy smile.
“See?” Carmilla said, returning her expression as she ruffled her hair. “Ducky made it all better. Now, do you wanna play for a little bit, baby Vel?”
She nodded, eyes fixed on the rubber duck.
The white-haired woman watched for a moment with tender eyes before she sat down on the closed toilet seat. She grimaced down at her wet leggings before sighing and, with some effort, peeling them off her legs. Her skin prickled at the feeling of cold air. She grabbed a washcloth from under the sink and wet it with warm water. Carmilla wiped her legs down until they felt clean enough to continue on. She would still need a shower, but with Velvette both like this and taking up the bathtub, it would have to wait a bit.
“Momma!” she called from her spot in the water, making little ripples and splashes with her movements.
She stood, making her way back over to the bathtub, “Yes, baby? Are you ready to get clean now?”
She nodded, pushing her rubber duck away from her in preparation.
Carmilla smiled, shuffling down until she was on her knees, “Great. Now, let’s get you all better.” She took the bar of the soap and began to carefully lather Velvette up, having to get her to stand for her lower half.
When the cleaning, rinsing, and draining of the tub ended, she grabbed Velvette’s purple towel from the towel rack. There were little bunnies that dotted the fabric. She wrapped the little Vee in it and picked her up, carrying her back to the bedroom. Before she left the room, she remembered to grab her pair of leggings and Velvette's nightgown to dump in the washing machine on her way back to the bedroom.
The biggest problem was finding a place to change Velvette. The bed, their usual place for diaper replacements, was clearly not an option. The floor, though much drier, wasn’t either. Carmilla, after a few minutes of searching, — Velvette was becoming very impatient, trying to wiggle free from her arms — finally resigned herself to using her work desk, clearing just enough room for the small demon and setting her down over the towel.
“Give Momma one second, baby girl,” the weapons dealer said, holding up her index finger in demonstration before she crossed the room, grabbing a set of blue ladybug pyjamas and a diaper. She slung the clothes over her shoulder and held the diaper in her hand, quickly returning back to Velvette, who had already gotten her hands on an old fountain pen and was on the verge of discovering just how to use it. On her leg.
Carmilla swiftly intercepted, taking the pen from her hands and setting it out of reach. “I’m glad you’re so curious, baby,” she said. “But could you try to sit still for Momma right now?”
“Okay!” Velvette babbled, helping her caregiver lift her legs to put the diaper under her.
The taller woman adjusted the diaper, placed her legs back down, put some powder on her bottom, and fastened the tabs around her waist. When she was finished with that, she set Velvette on the floor and began to dress her in the pyjamas.
“Now,” Carmilla said, kneeling back onto her knees when she finished dressing the social media overlord. “Momma still has to clean up the bed and her leggings. Can you find something to entertain yourself with while I do that? I can get some toys out for you if you want.”
Velvette nodded, but she looked unsure. The older demon got to her feet, but before she could take a step, she felt two sets of little fingers dig back into her thighs. The fashionista's eyes were wide as she reached up to tug on her tanktop a little.
She smiled down at her lovingly, “Yes, baby Vel?”
The fashion overlord made grabby hands, “Uppies while you clean.” She bounced on her toes.
Carmilla hesitated. Only having one hand to use while she cleaned would be difficult, but one more glance down at Velvette told her that there was no way she’d be able to say no. She sighed, reaching out to hold her hand, “Okay, baby, but you have to promise not to move too much.”
“I promise!” Velvette cried, trying to crawl up her body.
The older overlord smiled, trying not to wince at the sensation of her sharp nails digging into her skin. She plucked her from the floor and propped her on one hip. Carmilla nuzzled her face, kissing her forehead. She brushed back a curl, holding her close, “Good baby. My good baby.”
Velvette gave a big smile, “Not bad?”
She shook her head, “No. Not bad at all.”
