Work Text:
-
You met Eddie for the first time when you saw him talking with Chrissy
-
You knew she had problems with substance use/was interested in doing drugs, so you followed her to the forest when you didn’t believe her explanation of “going for a calming walk”.
-
You first told Eddie off
-
You thought he’s just some dealer who wants a customer from Chrissy and acts nice just because of that
-
And he was just starry eyed, looking at you scolding him.
-
“I don’t think he hears you anymore,” Chrissy whispered to you.
-
The boi was in love from that moment forward.
-
You had dragged Chrissy away from him and made her promise she wouldn’t take drugs again.
-
But the next morning, she had fallen a victim to something the police called a demonic sacrifice of some sort, and the body was found from Eddie’s home, his uncle’s trailer.
-
Chrissy’s boyfriend and his gang were certain Hellfire Club had something to do with it — more specifically, Eddie.
-
You knew Eddie wasn’t a murderer though.
-
He was weird, but in a class clown way.
-
Not in a creepy, murderous way.
-
Him advertising he’s worshipping the devil was clearly just messing around.
-
But the more people chanted about him doing it, and the fact that Eddie had disappeared…
-
You hated to admit it but you couldn’t help but think what if.
-
You ended up joining Dustin and his friends in search of Eddie anyway
-
You wanted to hear his version of what happened.
-
He had been hiding in a fishing shed all this time
-
And you thought he tried to kill Steve once you found him, which momentarily made you think the rumours were true
-
But Dustin calmed him down and he realised you weren’t there to hurt him.
-
He told you what happened
-
It sounded like he had gone mad
-
But others believed everything
-
You thought they were all mad
-
But they explained
-
And that’s when you learned about what all the strange disappearings and other events in Hawkins had been about
-
Supernatural activity wasn’t in your list of potential reasons, but apparently it was the actual explanation
-
Eddie comforted you about Chrissy
-
He told you that Chrissy came to his door later that night, asking for pills
-
He had hesitated because you had been so angry at him earlier that day
-
But he had agreed anyway
-
You walked through the forest and just talked about everything
-
And actually found out that you had a lot in common, even when you thought you would have nothing
-
He confessed he had admired you from afar for a long time
-
But he thought he would never have chances to get to know a cheerleader
-
Especially when a lot of your team was creeped out by him purely because he made a lot of devil jokes
-
He didn’t realise that one day the jokes would come back to bite his ass
-
You confessed you thought he’s cute
-
But the team was the reason why he didn’t pursue it further
-
They told you that he stands out as a woman beater
-
“I knew I shouldn’t listen to them,” you laughed now.
-
Fast forward to the last battle.
-
You jumped back to Upside Down the moment Dustin came back and told you Eddie tricked him to leave him behind.
-
You ran with tears in your eyes, scolding yourself for never telling him you had fallen in love
-
And once you reached him, he was already down.
-
The bats started to fly away the moment you saw him.
-
He laid there eyes closed.
-
“No no no, Eddie,” you begged him. “Wake up.”
-
He didn’t.
-
You sobbed, pressing your forehead against his.
-
And…
-
He drew in a sharp breath, making you stagger back.
-
“Eddie?” you gasped.
-
“Hi,” he croaked out.
-
You jumped into his arms, just in time for Dustin to rush back to you.
-
“Guys?” he panted, hands on his knees.
-
“He’s okay,” you choked out. “He’s all right.”
-
“I didn’t think playing dead would work on those fuckers,” Eddie murmured, before he groaned. “Still, they did nasty damage.”
-
You glanced back at Dustin. “Try to reach someone, we’re going to need help to get him out of here.”
-
Dustin nodded, running back towards the trailer, and you stroked Eddie’s hair back from his eyes.
-
Eddie smirked. “I guess I got the cheerleader princess after all. I kind of want to see Jason’s face when he learns that.”
-
“First we need to clear your name somehow,” you replied. “But I can’t imagine it being harder than all of this.”
-
Eddie hummed, bringing a hand on your cheek. “A kiss to make my pain better?”
-
You laughed, leaning down to finally, fnally, pressing your lips to his.
