Work Text:
The sky was beautiful tonight. Stars twinkled across the sky as the moon illuminated the field you and Robin stood by, painting it into a white glow. You sighed as you leaned your head against Robin’s shoulder, holding her hand as she sighed, leaning back against the tree that had long ago shed all its leaves to prepare for biting nights.
“A few years ago, I used to think feeling like this is fake. Or that it’s messy, confusing, not worth it. So I didn’t really let myself feel,” Robin mumbled, leaning her cheek against your head.” But then you showed up and suddenly the messy parts didn’t feel messy at all.”
You laughed. “Moonlight makes you a romantic, it seems.”
She smiled. “Well, yeah. I guess so.”
You stood in silence again, but this time just for a moment before she pulled away slightly. “I feel like dancing with you.”
You tilted your head slightly. “But there’s no music.”
“It hasn’t stopped me before from being silly.”
You sighed, letting her to pull you farther from the tree, before she put her hand onto your waist and other behind your neck. “I’m not a good dancer, but just swaying in place shouldn’t be too hard, right?”
You nodded, putting your arms around her as well. “No, it’s not that hard.”
On that moment, the field seemed to be the most magical place on Earth — heaven, even. You thought about everything that had happened lately, deaths, disappearings, always afraid of not making it through everything going on in Hawkins. But on this moment, in Robin’s arms beneath the pine tree, none of it felt like they should matter. With her, it just felt like you could concentrate on the moment and not care about anything else.
The night was still beautiful, and felt more beautiful each second as you looked into her beautiful blue eyes. And the world disappeared around you, this moment was truly a Heaven on Earth.
