When Jonathan asked you to model for his photography project, you immediately said yes — despite the fact that you were scared shitless of such an idea. Presenting yourself like that, have your face hung up in some gallery, having people stare at you, judging your postures and appearance, maybe recognising you out in public if the gallery would become a hit, all of that terrified you.
The reason for agreeing was rather pathetic really if you were being honest. You were completely in love with the man, so you would do anything he asked just to lspend time with him, even if his proposition wasn’t your thing. You knew it was silly, but you definitely didn’t have enough bravery to come forward and ask him to spend time together, that kind of thing was out of the question.
So here you were now, sitting on the couch, gazing outside with the best dreamy expression you had, hearing the camera snap before you turned to look at him and did your best to smile for the camera. Your heart was pounding as you did the best smile you could in that state, and you half-expected Jonathan to sigh and tell you you suck and he can’t get an angle with you he’d be happy with.
But instead, the next thing he said was something you definitely didn’t expect.
“You look cute,” he mumbled as you shifted a position, and you froze immediately, looking at him with wide eyes. He swallowed, looking away immediately. “I-I mean you’re photogenically cute. I didn’t mean to flirt, I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”
You blinked at him, before breaking into a shy smile. “No, I’m not uncomfortable. Just, I guess, surprised you’d say that.”
He smiled at you slightly, visibly relaxing. “Oh, good.”
You bit your lip. “So, shall we continue?”
He nodded, fumbling with his camera. “Yeah. Yeah, just a moment.”
The project suddenly felt so much more comfortable for you now, to be honest — a small wish forming in your head that maybe your crush wasn’t so one-sided you thought.
And behind the camera, Jonathan had the exact same thoughts. Wondering if you felt the same way he felt for you, if his secret fantasies of one day confessing his feelings to you would result in you returning his feelings, and he’d be grateful to Steve even once in his life. Steve’s teasing about yu two fitting together was really the main reason why Jonathan realised he actually has a crush on you.
Maybe your hearts would find their way to each other one day, and maybe you both would get your happy ending in this messed world full of monsters and danger.
