Crushing on Robin and being shy and easily anxious wasn’t a good combo, to be honest
-
She was so funny, outgoing, social — and you were just… so much less than that
-
At least if you thought too much into it
-
But on the other side, she thought the exact same thing about you
-
You were so gorgeous, wonderful, kind, your smile was the cutest she had ever seen…
-
And she felt like you could never like her
-
Steve noticed the looks she gave to you… and the looks you gave to her first
-
He pestered Robin about it for days until she finally approached you
-
You felt like you shook so much you could have dug through the floor of Scoops Ahoy when she came up to you
-
She was kinda spooked she was making you nervous (in a negative way)
-
And you were just terrified you would make a fool of yourself in front of Robin of all people
-
You tended to do that when you had a crush on someone, after all
-
She glanced back at Steve, who gestured her to just go for it
-
“Uh… are you free tonight?”
-
“Tonight?”
-
“I know a nice cafe near the arcade hall.”
-
You blinked, staring at her
-
She was afraid she’d come across as a creep
-
And you were wondering if she’s joking around or actually being serious
-
You had never had anyone show attraction towards you before
-
But on the other hand you knew Robin would never joke around like that
-
She knew better than play with people’s feelings
-
So you accepted her proposal
-
(Technically she didn’t call it a date but both of you knew that was exactly what it was)
-
(And neither of you minded)
-
That’s how it started
-
And many more dates followed
-
Until you gathered up all your courage you had and asked her to be your girlfriend
-
Even after all this time, you were nervous she’d say no
-
Or that you’re going too fast to her taste
-
But she told you she had tried to make herself ask you too
-
But she just didn’t have the courage
-
Because she knew your anxiety sometimes put on breaks
-
You laughed at it together
-
Your relationship was pretty messy though after some time
-
Not because of your dynamics
-
But because she was always somewhere and had started acting weird after a year into dating
-
She came back bruised and dirty sometimes
-
And it just made you wonder what kinds of secrets she held inside her
-
Your anxiety, that you had been successfully keeping shut for months whispered that she doesn’t trust you enough, that you aren’t enough for her anymore
-
She wouldn’t cheat on you, you knew that, but she definitely had secrets she wouldn’t tell you, or deny them when you’d ask
-
She kept them a secret until… you saw a glimpse of Upside Down.
-
It wa just a shadow really
-
But you knew the shadow belonged to something that wasn’t natural
-
After Robin heard what you saw, she sat down with her friends and after a bit of bickering, they agreed on telling you
-
You deserved to know the truth
-
And even though your anxiety was pulsing in your head after you had heard the whole story, it also eased your nerves somewhat
-
Because now you knew the secret
-
Even when it was terrible
-
And Robin also felt at ease because it was true that her chest felt lighter too when she wouldn’t keep secrets from you anymore
-
You became a part of the gang, and your surprising skills in some stuff were a great help during your battle to defeat Vecna.
