Reunion Between Lost Friends

Notes:

Day Twenty-Six: Surprise Reunion

Work Text:

Daycare.

It’s a simple message that Foxy almost ignores – mostly because he figures it was Freddy wanting to show him another painting that a child had done – however he doesn’t have anything going on tonight and decided to see what’s going on at the Daycare. (Though, it’s strange that none of his children had come to see him yet, not even Chica who would always go out of her way to see him).

The daycare is strangely quiet when Foxy got there – which makes sense since the Pizzaplex has been closed for an hour now and most of the workers had gone home – but there’s not even a hint of Sun or Moon hanging around. He makes his way down into the main play area where those stackable towers have all been knocked over and the generators have been turned on for some reason; maybe a blackout had happened in just the Daycare?

“Sun?” Foxy calls out; jumping suddenly when Sun pops out from behind the security desk. “Wha’ goin’ on, Lad?”

“Nothing going on, Fox!” The words came out force and Sun couldn’t even meet his eyes. “Just cleaning up after all the fun we had today.” Sun had step over something – soft muffles could be heard – and came around the desk looking even more uneasy. “Anyways, I suggest you get back to the Cove before a night guard catches you.”

Sun tries to slip pass him but Foxy grabs him by the arm; leveling the attendant with a look.

It only takes a few seconds before Sun cracks: “Alright!”

Sun drags him towards the desk where Bonnie is tied up and struggling until he freezes at the sight of Foxy. It’s been such a long time since they had seen one another…Bonnie looks the same as the day Foxy had last seen him and he knows that can’t be the same for his friend. Foxy quickly untied Bonnie, who pulls off the cloth around his mouth before pointing at Sun.

“Why did you do that?” Bonnie asks; glaring angerly at Sun but didn’t move because Foxy has a strong hold on his shoulders, forcing his friend to stay down.

“You’re the one broke into here!” Sun shouts back.

“That’s enough,” Foxy steps in. “Sun, go find Freddy an' tell 'im that there I want to speak to 'im.”

Sun storms off while mumbling about something that Foxy wasn’t able to catch.

Bonnie sighs and leans heavily against Foxy suddenly, causing him to blink a few times before wrapping his arms tighter around his friend. It’s nice to feel the familiar fur that had gotten change for metal over the years; it’s warm and Foxy couldn’t help melting into the past until he had to pull away, noticing the confuse look from Bonnie.

“You look different,” Bonnie said. “Actually, I’m not even sure what’s going on.”

“What ye remember last?” Foxy had moved from kneeling to sit across from Bonnie but never fully letting the bunny go; earning a soft chuckle from the older animatronic. “Maybe I can 'elp fill in the missin' gaps fer ye.”

“After our last performance, we were told that we’re shutting down for maintenance but than when I turned back on the backroom was vastly different.” Parts and Services. “It took Freddy and Chica longer to turn on so I decided to explore…there was something down there, I thought it was a child but I’m not so sure anymore.”

Foxy leans away – not realizing that he had lean towards Bonnie at some point – and takes a moment to look up at the balcony where Freddy stands nervously; shifting from foot to foot until he noticing Foxy watching him and comes down into the Daycare. Bonnie tense at the sight of Freddy standing behind Foxy, and almost didn’t follow Foxy to stand up. It also doesn’t help that his boy is much taller than either of them (with Foxy being slightly taller than Bonnie due to his upgrades, but also because he was always a bit taller than the Band since the bigger).

“Lad, wha’s goin’ on?”

“It’s a long story but I think there’s a virus in the main system.” Freddy keeps glancing towards the doors leading out of the Daycare on the ground floor; clearly, expecting something. “The others are acting weird since the show earlier and then…” he motions towards Bonnie. “The old system had come online which is probably why I’m not infected like the others.”

“An' ye didn’t think about comin' to find me?”

Freddy ducks his head down while Foxy sighs and heads towards the exit – ignoring the fact that he didn’t let Bonnie’s hand go. Bonnie quickly moves to walk next to him while Freddy follows closely behind them; his ears keep flickering like he’s listening to something.

“I think I seen him down there too,” Bonnie whispers. “Though, I can’t be sure.”

“Freddy ‘armless,” Foxy state; wanting to shut down any thought that Bonnie might have about his son. “'e an' the others be part o' me crew; they would ne'er 'arm anyone.”

They came out to the main lobby where the doors have been shut and Chica seems to be wondering around for some reason. Foxy jumps when Freddy pulls him and Bonnie down behind the ticket counter, moving to be in front of them as a way to protect them…which makes sense if this virus is as bad as Freddy says it is.

“Are you lost?” Chica’s voice bounce around the silent room. “Your family is looking for you.”

“Be they stuck in security mode?” Foxy question Freddy, who nods.

Freddy leads the way to the gift shop, shutting the door behind him once they got through. His ear flicks again, causing him to hesitant from locking it. There’s clearly something about going but his son won’t even look at him while they make their way through the gift shop – suddenly there’s a sound of shouting and the clash of metal against the ground.

Freddy push past the two and quickly open his hatch to allow a child to climb inside just as Chica comes through the gift shop door; looking around for the child that Freddy is hiding. Chica didn’t even process that fact that the trio was even there as she returns to the lobby in search of the missing child.

“So, I was right that there was a child…” Bonnie said; trailing off and looking unsure.

“Freddy?” Foxy places his hands on his hips and attempts to give his best parental look that cause most kids to crumble. “What’s really goin’ on?”

Freddy allows the child to come back out of his hatchet (which Foxy had force himself from flinching at some memory that he can’t quite reach) and stands protectively in front of Freddy, like this child can stop two animatronics. Foxy can admire that.

“It’s not Freddy’s fault.”

“Everything I had told you is true; I just left out Gregory.”

Gregory still haven’t moved; despite the fear he had felt like running away from Chica. It reminds him a lot from before the Pizzaplex with the security guard…though, he doesn’t quite remember everything or why the Band wanted the guard gone but his friends needed him so he did what Fred asks of him.

Instead of pushing on the matter, Foxy decided that they should go find the rest of the band before Chica comes back through this way. He doesn’t want to know what will happen if his daughter does end up catching Gregory at this point.

He didn’t think twice about grabbing Bonnie by the arm and lead the way to Rockstar Row.
