Making a beeline for the fridge she notices him straight away. Colin, making a very similar beeline from the opposite side. It’s like they're magnetised to each other, except they’re both actually magnetised to the turkeys. Their hands land on the door handle at exactly the same time, their fingers touching lightly.
“Oh,” Colin exclaims.
Penelope smiles, the touch of his fingers thoroughly distracting her and causing all sorts of internal reactions.
“Turkey too?” He adds.
“Yeah, Portia’s Christmas depends on it.”
“My life depends on mine,” Colin laughs, pulls the door open and offers to let her go first.
“Oh.”
“Ah.”
There’s only one turkey.
